Can We All Just Admit "Van Helsing" (2004) Is a Work Of True Genius?

Kate Winslet smiles down from Heaven at the end. I still can't get over that.

When the credits roll and there's the dedication to Sommers' father, I literally blurted out "What did he ever do to deserve this?!" and it got more of a laugh out of the theater audience than any of the gags or jokes in the movie.

Ok im gonna list the werewolf movies I have seen from memory

1 - Dog soldiers: great and fun movie. Watched with my grandma once and we both enjoyed it.
2 - Cursed: absolute car crash. vaguely memba hearing it had major production drama
3 - Company of Wolves: Forced to watch at school. Mediocre,- even if I do have a soft spot for Angela Lansbury
4 - American Werewolf in London: Watched a fuckass long time ago, remember it being ok I guess...
5 - Underworld: interchangeable, forgettable, and downright shit early-mid 00s action-horror trash
6 - Underworld 2: interchangeable, forgettable, and downright shit early-mid 00s action-horror trash
7 - Van Helsing: interchangeable, forgettable, and downright shit early-mid 00s action-horror trash (tween edition)
8 - Twilight New Moon: Watched during my "Intentionally inflicting normie tier bad movies on myself to feel smart and cool" phase. Nothing worth noting

After checking various normie sauces to see what werewolf movies are considered "classics" I have acquired the following list atop the good/passable ones mentioned above and after some cross referencing with non trash sources I feel these *might* be worth a watch....but I probably wont bother

1 - Wolfen
2 - Ginger Snaps
3 - The Howling

A final entry that made its way onto my radar largely by dint of the director is Howling Village which was made by the guy behind the original Ju-On The Grudge movies. It also involves women fucking dogs from what I hear so...well its got that going for it.
