The problems were becoming very apparent in the late 2000's. I was 18-19 entering the workforce in entry level employment and the immigration problem was already there it just wasn't very big yet and definitely in low wage sectors.

I don't think we really disagree here; in that- the cracks were obvious and there were problems, but we hadn't realized we were at boiling point yet.

The differences Id identify would be in the early 2000s and 90s, your aspirations might be actual middle class lifestyles, and post 2008/9- maybe 2019, the standard dropped to a strained lower-middle class lifestyle, to millennials just getting by with McJobs or even the neet phenomenon.

We don't even have that now. The 9 million Indians eliminated even that.

For those who were successful or semi-successful before 2019, they may be doing 'okayish'

for those who wern't, theyre even more fucked,

and now zoomers are even more fucked basically- because the ladder was kicked even further out from under them.

Secondly, in a weird way they're ideal for retail and food service in our dystopian society because they make sure your expectations of major chains are never too high but keeps small businesses higher. If people get good service but see some teenagers goofing off during their downtime, that's more impactful than having some jeets who can never do anything right but smile at customers.

The average Chinese is high IQ on-par with Europeans, and there are over 1.2 billion Chinese.

The biggest difference is that China for the most part has done well for itself, Hong Kong is a financial hub, Singapore is basically run by ethnic Chinese, and Shanghai has industrialized, you're just not going to entice East Asians to move to Canada.

The 1990's were a big exception to this, East Asia was hit with a financial crisis and that forced a fair amount of Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese to move to Canada.

But absent of an economic crisis, you're just not going to get much East Asians to come to Canada.

Meanwhile, India is a perpetual sh*thole, they're literally out there inviting Hollywood celebrities in billionaire parties meanwhile half of the country doesn't have toilets. That kind of behavior would cause revolutions elsewhere, but in India that seems to be just normalized. I don't doubt that is true, I was hit with a similar sob story at Great Clips when they were doing their $12 haircut deal (2009 prices) last month. The hairdresser said her primary location was Hamilton (she lived in Ancaster) but she had to drive for 2 shifts a week 1.5 hours away to the location I was at.

Just they often exaggerate so you feel bad and give them a higher tip.

My standard tip is $5 flat for a haircut.
