Just take a look at Kyle Rittenhouse. Whereas the police are mostly powerless to do something and face great scrutiny from social media when they take action so they aren't reliable either.

Its because politics are a sports team to them, and integrity or actually thinking comes second to supporting the team. Places like Reddit make this easy to understand. Redditors will always vote Trudeau, because to them Poilievre is the devil, and you have to vote strategically. The liberals have gotten very blatant with their corruption this mandate. Bill C-11, C-18 and C-21 are nothing short of total legislative disasters. Fiscal policies are downright strange. Supposedly, the liberals will announce new tax cuts/allowances for groceries for lower earners. This government wants you to subsidize the Westons with your tax money.

What's been surprising me in the past few days is the press coverage on the poor "irregular" immigrants from Roxham Road and their plight. An endless stream of sob stories about your poor wee illegals. There seems to have been a whole lot of business around Roxham Road, including individuals bussing people from New York to the border. There's a dude with 11 kids trying to pretend that he's not safe anywhere but Canada.

Meanwhile housing is in total shambles despite claims from the LPC that they would crack down on speculation and "build more". There was this story last week from Quebec about an "illegal" AirBnB which burned to a crisp, burning alive all the people inside due to a lack of fire exits and any sort of building standards. The conclusion from it is that neither the city nor the province seems interested in enforcing its own laws. So real estate is landlord vulture clown world, where both shitty landlords and tenants can do whatever they like as it takes forever to get a court case. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if both Montreal and Toronto are hosts to a plethora of illegal "micro apartments".

I wonder how immigration and unaffordable housing will evolve in the next 5 years. Is taking two jobs going to become the norm, are Canadians going to house themselves like third worlders or all live with their parents?

It's a bit misleading. The actual reality is Canada does not have enough prisons to accommodate people. That is why there is ''catch and release''. Prisons are bursting at the seams. The amount of crazies, druggies, violent people far exceeds to number of structures to hold them. The media won't mention this and the public remains ignorant.

They haven't built enough prisons per capita. They have even closed forensic psychiatric hospitals. In terms of what's causing the criminal crisis it's a combination of everything already brought up in this thread as well as things that have not been brought up.

Most of the attacks in places like Toronto are performed by non-white's. Most of Canada's immigrant selection comes from third world countries. I came across some type of article back in 2015 (published by an independent source of course - not mainstream) that discussed the realities (which included police reports) of immigrant males coming to Canada and then having breakdowns after not being able to hack it here. Some of the crime was petty like shoplifting from Sears (when sears existed) others were far more serious like stabbing their spouses, attacking random people and other sexual assaults. It was bad, bad, bad. Some people think immigrants and refugees are not among the homeless in places like Toronto - the reality is they are the majority of the homeless. Go talk to someone who works in the shelter system in that city.
