Just randomly browsing the wages for jobs in Alabama and a couple of other southern u.s states and was honestly fucking shocked.

Now the reason I did that because in Ontario I've heard people say "people here are struggling and it sucks sometimes but we're nothing like Alabama or another U.S state like that".

This is what I learned, their wages are almost double what ours are and even in some entry level jobs pay more. And most of the south is also cheap to live in. I've always heard that America was the more capitalist country and fucked the poor and rewarded the rich. But honestly.. that's a goddamn fucking lie. Outside of NYC, silicon valley and a handful of super expensive cities most of the U.S does not live under a greedy, all or nothing system. They have reasonable cost of living that allows people to actually make a living. They're not being flooded by hoards of immigrants from south asia to suppress wages either.

Canada is clearly the greedier country.

It does fuck the poor over, but it goes back to something posted earlier-

Its a land of opportunity and personal responsibility still in many regards. It at least gives you the chance to be more responsible for your own life, and to reap the rewards more directly.

There are hollowed out husks in the US, just like in Canada. Detroit, Chiraq, most of the rust belt, etc.

I think the major difference is that whereas if you are in NYC, California, or one of the urban hives, you have the same situations youll find in Toronto here (or worse),

but theres so many more places you can move to, and yeah- Ive checked job postings in the US before and the requirements to get them are usually a lot less and the fact that you don't have hordes of south asians pouring in to suppress wages too helps considerably.

I am quite interested in the outcome of this whole incident. If this does go through, it means there is a profound strategic shift in (((the plan))) and that (((they))) have abandoned their traditional strategy of play the long game in response to the strategic situation turning on their plans (aka their pet negroids and ragheads turning on them).

I distinctly remember being shocked as a kid that you could just say "yes I am over 18" and see literally anything. At least back then it was slow as all hell, it was on a computer shared with your entire family, and you were mostly limited to photos or terrible quality videos.

The kind of "digital ID" legislation I've seen generally relies on the "trusted 3rd party" pattern which is fine if implemented properly.

Except for the part where it would basically mean all kinds of pirate porn sites defunct if rolled out broadly and would likely make sites like KF require the same ID system or just not have anything 18+ or just ban canada.

Canada is very much a wolf in sheep's clothing, or more specifically, the Laurentian elites and other political mandarins that operate our institutions. There is very much a culture of "screw you, I have what I want" behind all the theatrics and grand pronouncements because our idiot PM wants to put on a show for the world. For example, the Trudeau government made a big deal out of sending peacekeepers to Mali during his mandate and quietly left once our tour was up despite the UN asking us to stay. Similarly, they throw billions on Ukraine or their other hobby horses, but refuse to give our veterans even the bare minimum of benefits because they (allegedly) ask for more than the government can give.

Fuck. Canada under Trudeau is the most unreliable ally you can have. He refuses to treat the People's Republic of China as a geopolitical threat and allows them to operate in our country with such impunity that the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia froze us out of AUSUK. Meanwhile, Canada has no plan (or even intention) of raising our defence spending to 2% of GDP as per our NATO commitment. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the American ambassador to NATO are calling Canada out on this. The dark truth is that Trudeau is content to allow Canada to sit on the sidelines and let our allies bleed themselves dry in a potential conflict. I mean, we let the USA do all the heavy lifting for continental defense.

Closer to home we have a housing crisis, opioid crisis, rising crime, collapsing healthcare system, exorbitant cost of living, and myriad issues that the feds' only solution to is: throw money at it. Worst of all is that there is virtually no oversight over government spending. The ArriveCAN app was supposed to cost around $80K, but ended up costing at least $60M and that's not even the full amount because of "shoddy" record keeping from the Auditor General from knowing the real cost. Where did that money go to? To some consulting firm whose address is some cottage who then subcontracted it to other firms that only existed on paper. I'd wager that this is only the tip of the iceberg and the corruption is present throughout the civil service.

Oh, the government gives you carbon and grocery rebates, but that its but a pittance compared to what they take in taxes that they use fund their lavish lifestyles. They are the most avaricious of all creatures and the entitlement runs deep.
