Well to be considered a paper tiger, one has to appear powerful and/or threatening--something Canada is not and never has been. The Liberal Party does want to project the image that Canada is an obscenely wealthy and operates under the delusion that prosperity is measured by government programs and spending. Trudeau is fine with being one of Zelenskyy's sugar daddies, but he abhors the idea of giving the Canadian Forces adequate funding and equipment. The money he promised ($80 billion) is to be paid out over twenty years when it's doubtful that he will be PM past 2025.

Canada's precarious economic outlook leaves me to wonder if the nation's young adults will follow the example of their peers in China. The condensed version is that there is a movement in called "Bai Lan" (translated to "let it rot") where young adults in the PRC are withdrawing from the workforce due to poor working conditions, crushing competition, and few prospects for a better life. Many of them are university educated, but China's main advantage is low-wage labor so there are few white-collar jobs. Young Canadians have been similarly screwed with the absence of entry-level jobs and the pajeets taking up all the minimum wage jobs, rendering their post-secondary degrees moot. House prices are astronomically high so there is next to zero chance that they will ever own a home and rents are similarly high so there is a solid chance that they may end up living in their car or under an overpass. Factor in increasing cost of living...

It begs the question: why even work hard in this country? The answer is there is no reason to. Trudeau may promise all these gibs, but it's all going to vanish into our bloated bureaucracy that gives you far less for more. At least you're not putting yourself through the wringer if you refuse to participate.

As you said, people don't know what's affordable anymore. People don't think cheap is some post WWII-style prefab or some European multiunit/townhouse/whatever, they think big city living. Even IF we didn't have the absurd levels of immigration, too many people are unwilling to go through the standard process of upgrading their life over time. They would vote and be adamant against building anything that doesn't accelerate density. They would cry for affordable housing but look down in disgust at anything that isn't a luxury condo given to them for cheap.

The other caveat is that, of course, the current housing crisis is entirely manufactured by the political class, not necessarily for any nefarious reasons, but because they allowed uncontrolled immigration into this country for too long- probably to try and prop up the boomers social security and the governments tax revenue. We shouldn't even be at this point or having this conversation, but we are.

Let's not pretend Trudeau and the entire modern left wasn't open about wanting to pull in millions because 'racism.' And they know the pajeets are scamming it and not paying taxes and they like it. It's not about propping up boomers, it's about forcing us into their diverse utopia. And Canada voted for it. Oh sure, now everyone is mad because they have to live with the consequences, but the majority let us get into the position we're in.

I'd say two-thirds of the country at least are getting what they fucking deserve.

The whole point of a dystopia is the average person supports their abuse. They think it's glorious. They hate white people, they hate success, they hate America and that upon which it stands. They are the world's white knight and Canada is a glowing paradise of tolerance and those who hate it will obviously convert when they discover the diversity.

They are so stupid they believe it. It doesn't benefit them, but they have to believe it so they can feel comfort at being 'noble' and 'on the right side of history.'

We're speed-running Weimar Germany, 1984, and Brave New World while pretending America is 2 weeks away from being The Handmaid's Tale and that's makes us better (Atwood is a shit writer, it's a sin to put her on the level of Orwell or Huxley, but Canada has to cling to something).

Two of Canada's three largest political parties have a "We're not America" stance. Literally anything they can do to distinguish Canada from the US, no matter how retarded it gets, will be a victory in their eyes.

I remember growing up and hearing how the "US is a melting pot, and Canada is a "mosaic" or a "salad" of different cultures. People from around the world went to the US to become Americans. People around the world didn't come to Canada to become Canadian, nor did the Canadian government want them to be Canadian, they were encouraged to keep their cultural and ethnic identity.

And now we have entire chunks of Canada resembling India, China, and Middle Eastern shitholes. But at least we're not forcing them to become Canadian.
