No. The identity of being a Canadian has been beaten out of the majority of this country through the Laurentian Elites. The current ''Canadian Pride'' Is a psy-op for hysterical boomers and liberals and it will die off soon.

The boomers were the last generation that real Canadian history wasn't hidden from and who weren't told that every other nation and culture deserved more reverence than those that founded the country, and they stood by while any real Canadian culture there was was washed away by liberalism.

They don't understand why Gen-X hates this country, but they are the ones who made us hate it.

The idle thought in the USA for over a century has been that the Canadians are Americans too, they just haven't figured it out yet. Or is it more "I wish there was a Canadian Identity too, instead of everything on earth can be a Canadian BUT a Canadian?"

I've always maintained elsewhere that The American people are the descendants of the European people who conquered North America. Canadians are a major component of that. The United States is just the name of the Government that represents the interests of the American people on the world stage and governs them. US /= A.

That's a really charitable way to say that they were the ones who hid the history from you and told you that every other nation and culture deserves more reverence than yours. That's the generation that threw away everything they inherited. And their parents were too shellshocked (i.e. NeVeR aGaIIIIn) to have disciplined them properly when they were just getting started.

Maybe another way to be charitable, without sweeping any filth under the carpet, is to let them have a slow come-down to save some face, by recognising that the whole thing was a psy-op from the Yanks to create a soft power alternative to the Soviet Avant Garde.

Eh, selling it a bit short. From where I sit its just its own thing. Much like how Floridians are different from people in Wisconsin who are different from people in New York.

The Comparison of Canadians as "Knock off Americans" I believe comes from the fact that Canadians are Americans. But Americans administered by Ottawa instead of Washington DC. The United States monopolized the national title of America for the name of its country, but much like how not all Germans live in Germany (Some are in Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, etc) not all Americans are in America. Some happen to be in Canada.

Canada's national identity came from the idea of being "better" Americans. Loyal to the British Empire instead of traitorous rowdies and so on. Its only "knock off" in that sense. But its like saying Austrian's and Switzer Deutsche are Knock Off Germans. The mistake Ottawa has made is that it denies there even is a Canada, let alone that Canada is made up of a native people (Americans) who are not feather Indians. I imagine that really makes the pull of the rowdy uproar to the south where Americans are waving the flag, shooting off guns and shouting 'Murica" rather seductive.

Well just as some power leveling on my perspective, my family came to America on the Hector in 1773. They established themselves in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Now I say they "Came to America". But Pictou isn't in America today. It's in Canada. The vagaries of fate and war meant that I live south of an International border instead of North of it.

I point this out to illustrate the larger point that "Americans" as a people are not geographically determined by international borders drawn up in Paris.

Canada was not more loyal during the American revolution. The governors of the Northern colonies just did a better job of tard wrangling the patriot societies that were dragging everybody to war.

I remember reading that most people in Nova Scotia were down to take up arms too with Massachusetts and New York,, but the regional elites were successful in preventing it. Quebec was, well, just Quebec. It didn't care that the Anglos were murdering each other.

Quebec was actually the most loyal colony because they did not want to dominated by Anglo colonists and the British agreed to protect their noble's privileges and Catholicism.
