Alberta is moving to stop or severely limit foreign workers.
By making companies get more licenses? That doesn't sound immensely effective.

Unless it's something similar to what the US was doing like charging A LOT just to even start the process of hiring one person (and no refunds!), it's hard to see how different this is from the way presumably it has been done originally.

so many doomers.

It's better then nothing right? At least they're taking some steps to stop the influx. Sure it's not slamming the door shut like I'd want but they're at least trying to slow the infection. Making them apply for a license and getting them to prove they need a TFW is much better then just saying sure how many Jeets did you need this week, 10? 50?

Baby steps. In politics every step is painful and slow when your fighting the mass power of both the Federal government and the local bureaucracy that supports it so anytime you get forward movement towards your goal it's good news.

Great news everyone Canada has just politely given away an island, so that's less pesky space to worry about clearing out junkies to build chinese condos on

The B.C. Court or Appeal has overturned a lower court decision and ruled that the Nuchatlaht First Nation has Aboriginal title over its entire 210-square-kilometre claim against provincial land on remote Nootka Island off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

The decision, released Friday, overturns a 2024 B.C. Supreme Court decision that found the Nuchatlaht had title to only a part of their claim, about 11 square kilometres, confined largely to coastal areas at the northwest tip of the island.

The high court ruling extends Aboriginal title into the interior of the top half of the island, and covers about 40 per cent of the island, an area 50 times the size of Stanley Park.

In completely unrelated and very surprising news, somehow 100% of literally all indigenous tribes are opposed to BC trying to unDRIPA the law (which somehow accidentally happened in the first place and wasn't intended despite the specific language doing so being purposely added by the people who didn't want to do that) and have all immediately threatened to sue everyone and fight forever any attempts to change it let alone repeal it because "reconciliation (what does this mean? Idk) can't be paused or taken backwards". Weird I don't know why they wouldn't be volunteering to purposely give up a portion of their unlimited power to take everything and do whatever they want? Isn't that the Canadian way?

It's so easy to regulate and sustain a selective immigration system, the first thing is literally just increasing language requirements to intermediate level English, or French.

The fact that Ottawa hasn't bothered doing this means they just want to cram as many people in this country as possible.

Assuming Trump supporting the liberals was calculated, these are the reasons why. Canada basically has a Belarus-Russia relationship at this point with how much we depend on Amerikkka and how much free income and talent we provide them.

I don't think the Belarussians complain as much as yall do, Russia's pimp hand is still strong.

I feel like I'm in hell.

Every fucking month the same scramble for money for bills. The same stressing from dealing with that and a mother crippled by that fucking jab. Groceries KEEP GOING UP by the fucking month, disability payment stays the same.

I didn't get a say in this future. But I was to this shithole that these fucking boomers and gen X crashed so readily. Can't afford to leave. Can't afford to stay. Some days I get dark thoughts about what my future will be. I'm tired of scrabbling for every cent while a BPD boomer busts my ass and threatens to make me homeless.

Sorry for blog posting but fuck. Things just will not get better.

Just wait until they introduce yookay style censorship, but not in the way you'd think. Most likely their enforcement will be horrible given how they don't punish crime period. Also because liberal Canadians are particularly ideologically driven, you could likely just pretend to be mixed race or autistic or ADHD or something of that sort to get away with "thought crime." The thing I fear is that Canadians will willingly self-censor even if the laws aren't too strict relatively speaking.

Not trying to sound like a third worldist, but people in places like Belarus, Russia, China etc are becoming more and more aware of how trash their governments are, especially younger people. While in Canada, even though younger people are also waking up (hell, the student vote even saw the conservatives win a strong minority) the general vibe feels worse, especially since Redditors are a genuinely great representation of how many Canadians genuinely think like.

You know it's bad if foreign leftists and third worlders are starting to avoid Canada now. Definitely a bit of hyperbole here, but it's starting to seem like a north-south Korea or haiti-dominican republic style divide between Cucknada and Amerikkka. To be honest however, Amerikkka is far from perfect (and doesn't have a great track record of stopping states from becoming "mini-canadas" like California or Minnesota) but Canada is just declining that hard.

Your youth (America's to a lesser extent) are waking up to a property bubble that will out right crush your society. Canada seems to trail both the US and China in trends, with yall's monopolies on banking and iffy-at-best property rights, Canada is in for a shit show not seen since it's confederation when all the condos and tiny shit box apartments in GTA / Vancouver hit their real market value. The market corrections that have already occured are not close to what has to happen after Covid...

Current conversion rates are 0.72>1 for Canada 0.15>1 for China

The notion that an average sized home in GTA (141 m2) would cost about a million loonies puts you at over $7k Canadian per square meter is ridiculous.

In America, we are dealing with the same ilk of elderly having most, if not all, their wealth tied up in homes, my home was bought for around $900 per square meter but sits on a seventh of an acre on the Gulf of America. Texas also isn't in danger of random Injuns claiming stolen land, yea we stole it, it's ours now, fuck off. That's another similarity between Canada and China, the CCP owns the land and just leases it to you for 70 years; you own the box of shit on top of the land, maybe. In Canada yall don't even know who owns what and where the borders are, this is an irritant for appraising the value of the box as the land questions are in flux.

All that to say, Canada isn't up in smoke yet, when it is your Federal government Economy will collapse, the private money is already out or one foot out of there.

Groceries keep going up week by week

I swear everytime I enter the grocery store, the price of lean ground beef is up $0.50 at a minimum (and then they want you to buy Aussie beef slop or worse the mixed ground beef and pork in the same package)
