Capcom General Thread - General Discussion? Griefing? There are already 8 other franchise threads

Devil May Cry is like that friend you always worry you'll never see again, so there's this weird fatalistic dynamic that's almost always fun but then the underlying inevitably is always there.

Anyways. DMC6? Pls pick up. You were last seen in the same place tron bonne hung herself. Pls.
>Itsuno leaves Capcom
>Reuben Langdon quit acting
>No DMC collab in Monster Hunter Rise

At least the new anime looks good.

The taste of DMC fans shouldn't be this poor
As shit as the Castlevania anime turned out, Adi Shankar had a falling out with Warren Ellis at around at around season 3 (where the show fell off) and I'm not even sure what his involvement was in season 3 and 4, assuming he was involved at all considering he stopped promoting the show after season 2. Dracula as a character was the best part of the show and that's largely due to the pajeet keeping neckbeard Ellis on a leash. Alucard getting raped by chinese immigrants and Hector getting dommed by a vampire princess was probably Ellis's way of spiting him since those two were Adi's favorite characters.

From what we've seen of the DMC netflix show it looks fine, it looks like it's based off a DMC3 prequel manga that most people don't even know exists so the guy at least seems invested in the franchises he's been involved in. As long as the actions good and Dante is written to be a high spirited, cocky and playful asshole then I think it'll be fine enough. At the very least it'll be better than the 2007 anime by Madhouse.

I only watched a couple episodes but I remember it being fine. What's wrong with that clip? I'm also too lazy to look it up, what happens there, does Dante save the kid?

He does but the action takes place behind a curtain. There isn't much action in the show in general and Dante's mood mostly hangs throughout the whole show, far cry from what he's like in the games. There was one episode I thought was nice where some buff dude was trying to figure out what Dantes job was and ended up pissing his pants by the end, it was also one of the few episodes where Dante actually felt enthusiastic about doing anything.

Sounds about right, I do remember it being a little slow.

Have they removed the "Games for Windows Live" crap from the Lost Planet series on PC yet?

So? Inafune left Capcom and we got MM11.
There's post MM11 dev commentary where they basically say they don't feel comfortable doing one without Inafune. There's a reason there's a pretty consistent notion that they did it partially in response to Mighty No. 9.

I am not sure we'd get DMC6 anytime soon. Who knows, Peak of Combat bombed I think.

MvC2 wasn't fun because of the playerbase not knowing how to have fun due to the meta.
That sounds like poor design. I wasn't even playing online. Seems a bit ridiculous that I couldn't finish a single fight against the CPU without getting a time out without increasing the damage and removing the time limit in the settings. Like I played a shit ton of fighting games in the last 2 months and it's literally the only one that I was consistently ending matches on time outs against the CPU with the default settings. Timeouts pretty much never happened with any other fighting game I played.

I started going through the arcade mode three times before I found damage settings that wouldn't make fights drag on forever but didn't end them in like 10 seconds. I tried removing the time limit and cranking the damage to full. It was too ridiculous and characters died in a couple of hits. Turning the damage down one notch from max made the fights a tolerable length. I made it through the arcade mode, beat the boss and decided I'd rather play pretty much any other fighting game than that one. Even grinding for the unlockable shit wasn't worth it and I spent a bunch of time playing Tekken DR just to unlock some silly outfits and shit because that game is fun as fuck.

MvC is only good to button mash with your friends or to play competitively, it feels like there's not much room in the middle unlike with Smash or Street Fighter.

Not yet but maybe this year/next year if we're being optimistic. See below

Recently Capcom has been updating the private depots for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Lost Planet: Colonies Edition, and Lost Planet 2. All of these games were removed from sale on Steam 2+ years ago due partially to GFWL issues.
The only reasons that Capcom has made first time private depot updates to a game of this age in the past has been to either implement Enigma DRM or to remove GFWL implementation. Would Capcom implement Engima DRM to a game that they're not selling? maybe but optimistically this could mean Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City might be playable without GFWL eventually

That was pretty much the worst aspect of the console ports. The problem is that you needed to have the best wins (Hyper Combo finishes, team finishes, etc...) to get the most unlock points, but at the same time you get so little and a good chunk of the characters are expensive as fuck. And then they don't even give you all of the characters because halfway through the new character slots in the shop become empty until you get to a certain point in the game (50,000 points to even have the remaining 8 characters show up in the shop). That's not even counting how the alt skins increase by 100 points every time you buy one.

So you either do all of THAT, or go to training mode, turn your tv off, and leave the console on for a couple of days

I do like unlockable shit because it gives some incentive to play single player but that's some bullshit. I did notice that the prices change every time you reload the secret store, on the ps2 version anyway. Chun-li popped up for like 1900. I only had like 1400. I kept reloading it a bunch of times and eventually Chun-li popped up again for 1100.

MvC2 wasn't fun because of the playerbase not knowing how to have fun due to the meta.
The non-meta fun only lasts for so long, and even if someone only picks one of the god-tiers they can take out teams on their own if the opponent makes a mistake. Hell, even if you don't pick MSS or MSP (Mag/Storm/Psylock), you got infinites from other characters like Iron Man.

At least Reuben Langdon isn't blacklisted from 90% of conventions like Vic Mignogna is, and I hope that I didn't jinx him by saying that
Reuben is probably fine but man can not hide his power level on xitter
