That was a pretty idiotic thing to do when you were about to compete in a competition. It was all the justification capcom needed to say "Look at these dirty, virgin gamers! This is why women don't play, toxic masculinity..." etc. It would have happened anyway this spastic simply moved the time table up.For those out of the loop on this (I was) supposedly at some big fighting tournament last year, one of players was using a Chun Li nude mod and that pissed off Capcom. There are (censored) videos of this incident on YouTube and I can believe it being the cause. I wouldn't have known that happened at all if it wasn't for this DRM fiasco. The Streisand effect strikes again.
Nah you're johnny on the spot mate. Just about every game company wants mods and shit banned because it gives us too much control over the games which is something they just cannot abide. "You'll own nothing and be happy." Lucky for us there is always someone working on breaking DRM and all this is is the newest edition of the cat & mouse game that's been around since the don't copy that floppy days. The example I love using for when people shit the bed about modding is the Simcity game that came out quite a while ago that they insisted had to be always online because EA servers were helping to offload some of your cities data for a smoother experience. There was articles from all the usual wankers calling us all fuckwits because we obviously didn't know better than EA themselves. Launch day comes and some madlad drops a (tiny) patch that lets you play offline with no changes to performance.I might be tin-foiling here, but I remember Square-Enix calling out modders either this year or last in regards to FFXIV (though that was just a segment of a Live Letter where the director specifically asked people not to show modded screenshots because it could "create a dishonest view of the game". The coomers cared for about a day before going right back to showing off titty mods on Twitter). Armored Core also had an addendum basically saying "don't mod" to it's TOS the in same patch adding ranked matches. I wonder if other companies are looking at what Capcom is doing and will take similar steps in the future.

Also bang on. They also don't want 3rd party character skins and shit because 9 times out of 10 they are a huge leap up compared to what the devs themselves actually make.Nah. This is almost definitely about doing things like preventing easy access to DLC unlockables, plus the Chun Li thing.
Why spend $ on DLC (especially easy mode-type DLC) when you can mod it in?
