It is absolutely stunning how many people bitch about a given game franchise, and then they admit they only played the most popular entries.

You then have a 50/50 or so chance that they're the ones heavily involved in modding, and they have an extremely nasty habit of adding in, say, Sonic/Touhou characters and other such unfitting things.

We talk a lot about how companies are sick, but the people who play (or "play") a lot of the games and talk about them on social media are sick too in a different way.

I use twitter for shitposting purposes and it's infested with these mother fuckers. You'll see one entry in a game series get popular then suddenly all the ethots are cosplaying it and others pretending they've been there since the start. Of course it then starts to deviate into "Where are her organs?" or "That's racist!" so the game devs make changes and when they hold out their hands to accept money from this new audience they get told to fuck off because they didn't really play the games in the first place. The same thing happens to anime and comics. There's this massive parasitic group who leech off popular media and once it's sucked dry they move on to the next big thing they can make money from.

This happened when I play-tested a private Wow server's alpha stage (Azeroth at War. It's garbage). At the end of the phase, the drag and tranny faggots who left a dead WoW server they ruined (Duskhaven) were infesting testing threads with cross-dressing advice and grooming stuff, yet they reeeed over Turtle Wow saying nigger in chat. I tried to explain to the faggots how both were wrong, but I was considered a toxic threat for saying grooming chat and cross-dressing advice are bad. One of the mods I was talking to about improving the game turned on me and tried to threaten me with bans or some shit, so I left the discord, never looking back.

See, here's the thing with Capcom.

They either employ coomers directly, or as freelancers. UDON Entertainment for example, who makes a lot of Capcom licensed products, is filled to the absolute brim with coomers who use their real names on Twitter. Capcom of today is a literal shell of what it was back in the 90’s and 00’s. Though, I wonder if OP knows about this little tidbit highlighted in one of the articles he posted on this thread:

The second part was pointed out in this thread, but the fact that they went ahead and stopped doing it out of backlash of their bottom line and not caring about how DRM affects software manageability and file modding is proof that they were sneaky enough to put it in there without anyone knowing about it initially.

This kind of stuff should concern and make other gamers very cautious about what would happen if they “accidentally” did this to another game, and only do this exact same scenario having to backtrack because they just didn‘t know that people do not easily forget about their favorite “woke” games being put under this DRM software issue.

If anything, I genuinely think this might have been the reason as to why I skipped out playing Street Fighter 6 last year. Knowing that Capcom can do this to another one of their games, one wonders how long will it be until another game made five years ago will get this same kind of treatment.

I think this is where I'm slightly out of touch because admittedly I haven't really been involved in the modding scene for games that aren't old as shit. I'm still remembering the golden age when mods were produced and downloaded by people who loved the games. These days it seems like people make a daft wee mod and suddenly think they're Gaben who should be treated like rockstars. While nude mods have always been a thing nowadays it's almost like they are saturating the market. I'm not even going to start on paid mods...

Aye I've been on the verge of a rage fuelled crime wave on more than one occasions due to shit like that. In a more general sense though that is what's been happening to gaming as a whole for nearly 2 decades now, specifically when it comes to female players. The games I always played from the 56k era internet has always had a decent chunk of female players and it was extremely fucking annoying watching all this manufactured grrl gamer bollocks. No, they did it because it broke the game. They'll bring it back, they said they would. Capcom doesn't give two shits about backlash unless there's the possibility of a class action like with the rootkit in SFV. Which they might get in legal trouble with this too because 1) Enigma is a Russian based company and that country is under "US boycott" and 2) it triggers at least 34 anti-virus software.

Modern global re-releases of Japanese games tend to be monkey's paw at work, as they often inevitably tone down something in order to play safe with certain country cultures (mainly China, USA and sometimes South Korea) except it even affects the JP home audience too. Unlike in the past where releases of console games used to be generally region-specific (NTSC-J, PAL, etc), and everyone minded their own business.

And I forgot to mention the Darkstalkers games, in the Capcom Fighting Collection (2022), which have all the secret endings removed thus nullifying any effort out of the player to complete the game with a specific EX finisher + no round lost. No more sexy succubi art either.

I think we've had this conversation before, but from the few pro devs I know, this is fairly common. A freelance 3D artist I know draws porn between studio game contracts. I suspect this has always been a thing, but it's just the recent crop of hacks don't know when to say enough is enough.

Another related problem is people's tolerance for that stuff has dropped dramatically. There's no way you could make Star Fox today without being accused of being a furfag. I've ranted before how insane it is GenZ gets triggered by the likes of Lara Croft or Outlaw Volleyball for being too sexual.
