I used to think they looked kinda gay, but now I'm wondering if I should get a cybertruck.
There was just a giant recall for the glue that holds the panels on falling apart and its only for one part of the roof trim despite reports that other parts of the car are just randomly falling off. Don't...

You can have all of the low end you want out of today's turbo 4s
No doubt. I was used to grunty turbo I4s from a long line of hot hatches, but the new truck takes it to another level.

I get that there's a fair number of people that would prefer a NA V6 in a small pickup, but the amount of torque on tap just off idle with my truck's boosted four-popper is pretty crazy by comparison to the current Frontier or the previous generation of Tacoma/Colorado.

We'll see how they hold up over time, though.

I wonder if deleting diesel emissions will be legal again
If not I’m still gonna delete a newer diesel (when I eventually get one)
Also I find it ironic that the 6.7 power stroke trucks that the Feds get are factory deleted. Meanwhile we have to put DEF fluid bullshit.

Saw a Saab 900 Convertible driving around earlier today, looked fucking awesome and I want one now. What are yall thoughts, looked like this but in yellow.

Generally not a fan of convertibles but I think this one looks awesome with the top down. Really want to find one for a good price.

Those old saabs are pretty cool. I had a 900 turbo many years ago and got into some swedish cars, saabs and volvos. Unfortunately they're all FWD but saab had some really interesting design choices. In the 900 the transmission is below the engine and the input shaft runs through a sprocket and drives the transmission through chains, so when you go to change the clutch you don't have to remove the transmission. You pull the access cover, pull the input shaft out, and replace the clutch in between the input case and the engine block. The 900 turbo, tuned and with an exhaust, was a decent little sleeper though still, fwd, and understeers like an audi. The turbo saabs also had a system called APC which was basically a primitive electronic boost controller that used input from the knock sensor to dump boost if it detected any detonation. People, especially volvo guys, would put them on their tuned turbo cars. The volvos had similar engines (other than being 8V instead of 16V) and the system worked fine with a little work. You could put your bleed type boost controller on the car with a solenoid and if detonation was detected the APC would actuate the solenoid and dump you to wastegate spring pressure. Neat cars and not troublesome in my experience, but probably hard to find parts for now.

There are several in my neighborhood, a few 93's as well. One dude has (had?) a black one with Ferrari shields on it but with a moose instead of a deer.

Kinda weird really how there's at least three 900's and three 93's in this one suburb.

I'm still pretty sensitive and intolerant of turbo lag.

Ya, I heard the engine layout is very abnormal, with the engine being backwards and the belts in the back is that super hard to get to?

I'm a bit new to doing work on my car myself I'm mostly just trying to get a car to practice on without risking the car I use to get to work. I see a few cheap Saabs in my area and I got enough money and time on the weekend to put effort in it.

Eurofag here.
Have you Americans ever heard of the Ford Streetka?
c3a4fae1-1647-4233-bf08-b767ea32b160.jpeg
It‘s a tiny roadster with a naturally aspirated 1.6 l 95 HP engine.
Even comes with a MANUAL.
IMG_9953.jpeg
Entirely handbuilt by Pininfarina in Italy.
And Fords Motorsport Division designed the car.
So it‘s basically a Mini Ferrari.
Cheap as fuck too.
You can buy one for less than $1000 with around 90k miles.
c150281e-5cd5-48f9-ad0b-2303d9328a1a.jpegOh and it came with the „option“ of a hardtop.
IMG_9952.webp
So you STILL have the folding top in the back.
BUT ADDITIONALLY you can put on the hardtop.
182f76d9-56e3-43bd-bafd-400a628f5b9f.jpeg
So it can drive it all year if you want.
IMG_9955.jpeg
Also 200 litres of trunk is quite good.
So Lexus LC 500 levels of trunk.

No idea why they‘re so cheap over here.

Thinking about getting one, though.

front wheel drive and the ability to rust
Let me treat a Ferrari from 2004 the same way some of the poor Streetka‘s got treated and let‘s compare who has more rust.

Do you even need rear wheel drive with 95 HP?

A Golf GTI should have rear wheel drive with 200 HP because the wheels slip all the time.

It's not a terrible job but it's not one I'd want to do on the side of the road. What I remember most about accessories is that the alternator was the hardest to replace of any car I've done it on, some hoses and the whole bracket had to come off. because of where it all is relative to the firewall.

So it‘s basically a Mini Ferrari.
Old ferraris are crap. They barely get driven because they're collectibles and when they do get driven they're notorious for being trouble. Yes, I've heard of the Ka, I've seen Kas in europe. Street Ka not so much but it looks like a mini first gen audi TT so I'd choose an MR2 or a common british roadster if presented with that choice.

Father is trying to drive me to suicide and or drinking. It's like talking car mods with Dilbert at times... You know how to help a WRX get horse power... Well basso... how about removing drivetrain losses... can we do an install for a carbon fibre drive shaft? Hey why not ... you know up boost or new intake mani... since you don't want more noise.. no... just lets use YOUR lift and fucking put a C/F propshaft on.

They're fun and sympathic cars to drive and, in general, people tend to react kindly to Saab drivers. Those classic 900 are very desireable cars, so they command a price for a well looked after examples, but the opposite is also true that they don't loose value when you sell them. So, you don't need to worry about that part.

Personally I've owned and restored 2 convertible Saabs, a 900NG and currently working on an early 9-3 OG with Trionic T5 system. I find them fun cars to work on since they combine both mechanical and electronic systems to make the car go without the comprimises of hasty implemented emission controls, which make later T7 models sensitive to black sludge buildup. Also parts are still available here in the Netherlands, even new parts are being made due to high demand. However I'm not sure about the parts availability in the US (assuming you're an American).

I like to drive my cars like they are stolen and the world doesn't make those cars except for Japan.
That used to be the case up until the early 2000s. It's unfortunate there aren't any fun Japanese cars for a reasonable price anymore. If I want a 4 door tossable front engine rear wheel drive car, there's nothing from Japan that fits the bill. All they have now are the new Z, Miata ND, and GR86/BRZ but those aren't sports sedans. You're basically limited to stuff like the M240 and M340 or GM's CT4/5V.

Toyota still has the IS500 and it's a fucking riot. It's no hard-core sports sedan though, but outside of the Cadillacs, nothing is anymore. Is5 is also the only car that will give you a V8 except for the CTS5V.

Thanks I think I'm going to go for one. I got a few leads on a couple junkers. There's a 900NG SE I got some hope for sadly not a turbo though. And going to have to get it a new paint job someone keyed the shit out of it.

Toyota dropped the ball hard on the IS500. Compared to a M340, it lacks adequate cooling for the engine and transmission, bad tranny programming, and is slower. Japanese performance type cars always have the problem of having inadequate heat exchangers. The V8 in that may be a high revving riot, but we all know the best engine layout is the inline 6.
