carrd.co is a site-building program designed specifically for creating one-page websites. The intended use for Carrd was originally for things like a personal page to market yourself to employers, or to show off your portfolio. It was meant to be used by professionals, and it's rather harmless at first glance.

Well... That's what you'd think.

Sometime around 2020, Carrd was popularized by the Twitter crowd, and everyone flocked over to create their own Carrd so everyone can have a glimpse at what type of person they'll interact with. Since Carrd is relatively easy and flexible to use, due to many of its features being free, it quickly became flooded by autism.

Some like to scatter eyebleeding, seizure-inducing backgrounds and colors all over the page without any care or thought put into it.

Others like to keep it simple, perhaps a bit too simple.

But, one thing they all share in common is that they're all created by genderspecial self-hating white xer/xims who believe that cringe culture is totes dead, and have a long list of mental illnesses that they absolutely need to tell you about.

One thing you'll find a lot in Carrds are DNIs and BYFs. "DNI" stands for "do not interact", while BYF stands for "before you follow", and DNIs usually includes the obvious like anyone who leans right of center, pedophiles/MAPs, etc, but occasionally, you may find something interesting, like "you believe fiction can't affect reality" or "ask to follow me if you're French, a Spaniard, or British".

(Steven Universe is problematic now?)

(Apparently you need to have pronouns in your bio or else you're irredeemable to this wacko.)
They also tend to have a list of fictional characters that they "kin", as well as a list of their identities, and a list of their social medias... You get the deal.

(It's okay to call white people crackers but "nigga" is too far!)
For some reason, a lot of these include "bi/pan lesbians" in the DNIs, and apparently, according to them, it is not a valid identity; in fact, it's rooted in lesbo/bi/pan/whateverthefuck-phobia.
Speaking of activism and PSAs on carrd, that you can thank blacklivesmatters.carrd.co for! (Yes, it's misspelled as "matters"). Ever since its creation, a lot of people had similar ideas to make their own carrds to educate the public on what is and isn't racism or transphobia.
For example, bisexualities.carrd.co and bipansexuality.carrd.co are educational carrds about bisexual people. Now, what is so complex about attraction towards both men and women? Actually, wait a minute, that's not bisexuality; bisexuality is liking two or more genders. Don't assume there's only two genders, you bigoted bisexual! You must be attracted to my gender, too!

If you find someone's carrd out in the wild, feel free to take a quick peak at it. But remember, once you go down the rabbit hole, the ride never ends.
@Cadaver Corpse has also given a good run-down of the usual Tumblr terms that Carrds tend to use, in case you need pointers.

in Minecraft, ofc.

To be honest, I don’t find these to be all that interesting. A lot of personal Carrds are functionally identical to the traditional Tumblr “About/DNI” page, which are all very similar in structure. (Which makes sense, since I mostly see Carrds on Twitter profiles. A lot of Tumblr users migrated to Twitter after 2018, and Twitter bios don’t provide a ton of room to write in personal details.) I’ve seen so much shit like this both in cringe compilations and in regular internet browsing that it just doesn’t provoke a reaction out of me anymore.

Ah yes, my gender is also pog.

Unsurprisingly, Carrds are becoming popular with furfags on twitter. Usually to introduce their oc's/fursonas. If I still had a twitter I'd dig around and post some, but go through a few furry profiles and you'll find 'em.

Usually the shittier the fursona, the higher likelyhood of them having a Carrd. This chance doubles if the art is equally as shitty.

Here's a carrd of a mcyt stan.
Why do I see so many carrds that look exactly like this? Can't they be original?

Wait, no. I'd rather have the same garbage copypasted everywhere than the seizure-inducing backgrounds I had to put myself through. At least I can look at this uninspired drivel without having a headache.

I've been waiting for this thread my entire life.

that it/its link goes to a pronouny webpage where...
1614675735411.png

their list of pronouns is longer than a fucking novella.

"Yakko Warner is my fictional other and i have delusions that I am dating him" r/waifuism cameo?

song kins???
1614675973369.png

this one's a bit personal, this is the gf of a personal lolcow of mine and their carrd is everything wrong with system carrds imo
1614676036622.png
1614676052462.png

The rest of the carrd is pretty much like this, different typing quirks and an ungodly amount of "alters"
1614676910613.png

>identifies as cishet man
>body is ftm
>identifies as ageless
>body is a minor

it's shocking to me how identical some of these people are. pinned tweet is a minecraft youtuber fancam, with a carrd link and a pronouny link. their username is something edgy in caps and they type in tweets like there's an earthquake happening

for those out of the loop /srs is a serious tone indicator, so this is a genuine question
