I hate Sunset Paradise, and I really hate that it has to be canon in SMG4.

I don't understand why they didn't make it a separate continuity like Meta Runner, but no, the Meggy in SMG4 is the same as the one in Sunset Paradise. Also, notice how Glitch wanted to distance SMG4 from the Mario franchise long before the redesigns. Though in retrospect, it's quite funny, as Sunset Paradise is NEVER mentioned later in SMG4, aside from the very occasional mention of Meggy becoming a coach. Even funnier is the fact that nothing from Sunset Paradise ever appears in Glitch crossovers like Glitch Inn due to its close association with SMG4.

All in all the animation was genuinely pretty awesome and the sound design too, but a lot of scenes were badly paced and the human main characters (probably lesbians) didnt seem too interesting either, with some of the vas being a bit annoying to listen to as well.

Some unnecessary swearing and bad heavy handed politcal methaphors too, western cartoons always have to prove theyre for adults compared to action anime that tend to speak for themselves

Mcs are a Greg Universe looking white woman and a mystery brown woman that seems like shes just the chick from inside job again. Bit unnatural on the character trait exposition sometimes. Guinevere herself is probably the most compelling one in design, personality and backstory.

The themepark aesthetic is nice but i can already sense the infinite array of plot holes in the worldbuilding from here. Also this type of capitalist mascot dystopia has been a bazillion times before, even mouthwashing had one.

The comments are full of calling the methaphor of the show sooo clever and such a good revenge against disney when so far we havent seen anything deeper than illumination Lorax yet

Evil little girl gets a floating theme park planet (?) for her birthday. Her dad mentions a mysterious traumatic event.
Her already broken guinevere bot glitches tf out and throws itself off the balcony into the depths below, but the girl says the guards will bring it back like usually.
Scene change to the 2 mcs as kids hack into a claw machine in an attempt to win a guinevere doll and fail repeatedly. They then see a magic visage of guinevere.

Timeskip to current day, the mcs are now grown. Andrea works at the themepark as an engineer, Frankie works at a merchandise factory and also some kinda boat that fishes merchandise that falls from the floating park into the sea to resell the materials or smth idk.
Andrea gets called a 'crownie' and refused service by a shopkeeper, basically shes considered some kinda sellout/cop/whatever for working for the park.
Frankie is chill and shown to also have a passion for engineering and wants to be an imagineer like andrea (bc of the magic vision), andrea is the high strung bitchy coffee addict type.

Eventually when fishing out trash frankie spots a broken guinevere android, but doesnt recognise the model. Her boss wants to salvage it for parts, but andrea and frankie end up stealing it to try and fix it before returning it. The bot seems to have moments of odd behaviour and. Scene change to the evil girl from the start is now old, on life support and tweaking out. A nurse droid tells her theyve found a trace of guinevere and presents her a lock of hair, meaning shes probably been lost for a hot while. Evil girl tweaks some more.

Frankie and Andrea sneak into the imagineer lab to try and restore the bot, but guinevere starts screaming and theyre caught by a giant guard bot. She then proceeds to obliterate that bot offscreen while the mcs are in an elevator. The mcs plug her into the fixing machine. Guinevere gets an error message, reboots, and wakes up in her magical dreamland and sees the kid versions of the mcs there. End of episode.

Oh man, that's the guy who made the OneyPlays WarioWare animation years back.
Surprised to see he's taken a bold stance in support of Kirk, hopefully he finds a new VA for whatever projects he has in the future, if they drop him for supporting an assassinated family man, then they were always faggots and Vud should work with actually sane individuals that don't gravedance.
 
Just saw the latest guinevere pilot:
  • Animation was great but it's also a double edge sword, it would be very difficult to keep a fluid release schedule without major cuts or laboral exploitation
  • Too much swearing in order to make the show seem more mature (take a drink each time someone says shit)
  • Cast full of problematic people may affect how people sees it
  • Artstyle seems to be a very westernized anime and thus plain to some degree
Otherwise a pretty meh 7/10 for me, if anything the show may gain some initial momentum by dragging the Owl House and Glitch production fandoms

But has the Trashbin/Bullshit theme of swearing which fucking sucks and troonblematic people which annoys me. Thanks for the reviews.

Gave it a watch myself. I admit, I got hooked on how this pilot will go on - if it goes beyond a pilot. But holy CHRIST, did they love swearing. So many s-bombs thrown about that had NO breathing room. STOP RELYING ON SWEARING FOR DIALOGUE! STOP EQUATING SWEARING TO ADULT ANIMATION!

Other than that, if you ignore the fact it was made by Dana Terrance, meant to be a "YA-dystopian-novel-esque story of big corporation actually turning out to be EVIL and they fight the evil bad big man" story #984585766 and makes Vivziepop run for her money with the amount of unnatural usages of swears, I'd say it's a pretty intriguing pilot. If I could rate it, I'd give it an 8/10. -2 because of Dana Terrance and the Vivziepop-esque usage of swears. I know, that's much higher than the show needs to be. But as I said, as long as I pretend it wasn't made by Dana Terrance, I'd think an 8/10 is good enough for me.

Might lower it to 7/10 because of the swears, though. Felt way too out of place.

Oh, and here's the bingo list. The ones marked with "?" are ones I'm suspecting will happen overtime.

My thoughts with this is the same i had with the owl house, interesting premise, fluid animation, interesting aesthetics and designs that sadly will inevitable be done nothing with or live to the hype because the creator was busy gooning to interracial lesbian porn and adding it to the story than fleshing out anything about said story plot, character or world. These people are good at surface level ideas and pretty colors but for everything else they need to be tard wrangled, also they need to stop with the swearing it comes across as more childish than being actually mature.

Still, im interested to see where this is going.

Reminds me of The Lorax advertising a car despite the whole message of the movie was environmentalism. Empty messaging. Difference is people will eat it up because it's an I N D I E S T U D I O doing the message.

But this bothers me.

The Bible actually has good stories, engaging conflicts and imperfect people - which they obviously want (because, no matter your stance on if the Bible is real or not, that's just good storytelling) but they're so against anything vaguely Christian, it becomes the exact opposite of what the original Bible story is. They use the Cain and Abel story, but force Cain as the good guy.

They also want the aesthetics of the Bible.

So many times I've seen shitty Hazbin Hotel OCs have a "Biblically accurate" version of the characters but completely don't get why angels are portrayed that way, or they draw their brave n beautiful queer transbian character with a hijab holding a rosary.

They don't care that this imagery have meaning to people today, and that are important to people. It just looks kewl n quirky.


Now that I'm looking through this… I guess it bothers me not because they're using these things out of context. A deeper example why it bothers me is actually Butch Hartman.

He's not my favorite guy in animation (he's always just been too conceited to me), but I've seen a lot more people than issue with him being a Christian than anything.

I've seen a lot of people shit on his Christian cartoons because they're "too preachy" and come off as "bigoted" when they just teach Christian values.

And not to mention how they call him "homophobic" for wanting his failed streaming service to be geared towards Christians and families (which truthfully, I get what he meant, especially with the abysmal state of "children's" media) or the fact that he was against yaoi art on his own the Danny Phantom forum.

Context: Apparently a long time ago, when Danny Phantom was airing, Butch was active on a fan forum. The fans were shipping 14 year old Danny with an adult who was canonically his parents age (the character is Vlad Masters, who main beef is that Danny's mom broke up with him when they were young and she later got married). Butch vocalized that he didn't like that.

There's a lot of shit to criticize Butch about, but his faith shouldn't be the only thing focused on. But, of course, it is.

When I was watching the pilot for knights of guinivere I saw a different theme than a criticism of consumerism or getting back at disney. Could the main antagonist being on life support for what appears to be too long, having an excellent upbringing where she got whatever she want in a world that never stopped building, and a "terrible thing" that probably shaped the world probably a criticism of boomers? I mean, look at it. You also have the "crownie" sell-outs working for boomer-led industries where leadership is realistically too old to function. Then there's also the young divided populace struggling to get by while living in ze pods and eating ze bugs.

I mean I'm sure that money went somewhere, but he doesn't come across as someone that would squander it all away for something frivolous unless it was donations to the church. But yeah there are things to criticize about Butch, but the people (mainly leftoids) that complained about him were more obnoxious than the guy who has an ego and can't draw dick on digital (his traditional sketches and watercolor paintings are quite nice if you haven't seen them yet).

I think you're onto something. Maybe Olivia can only stay alive if people keep coming to the Park.
