>Well, since we're all gonna die, there's one more secret I feel I have to share with you
>I did not care for "Gravity Falls."
>What?
>Did not care for "Gravity Falls".
>Uhg.
>How can you even say that, Dad?
>Didn't like- Didn't like it.
>Peter, it's so good. It's like the best cartoon from the 2010s.
>I- This is what everyone always says. Whenever they say, it's like, "Oh my god, this show is so DEEP" Everyone always says-
>Soos Ramirez, Wendy Corduroy, I mean,
>Listen-
>You never see- BILL CIPHER?!
>I know, Bi- uh eh, FINE fine villain, did not like the show.
>Why not?
>Did not- couldn't get into it.
>Explain yourself. What didn't you like about it?
>It relies on "Millennial Humor", Lois.
>What?
>It relies on "Millennial Humor".
>What does that even mean?
>'CAUSE IT WAS A FUNNY SHOW FOR ITS TIME, ITS WRITING WAS CLEVER AND HUMOUROUS!
>It takes forever gettin' in. They spend most of it with Reddit/Marvel Avengers tier "well that just happened" writing, and then- You know, I can't even get through it, I can't even finish the show. I've never even seen the ending.
>YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE ENDING?!
>Well, how can you say you don't like it if you haven't even given it a chance?
>I agree with Stewie, it's not really fair.
>It's outrageous.
>I have tried on three separate occasions to get through it. And I- I get to the episode where the sweatergirl guilt trips her brother into getting her a pet pig-
>Yeah, It's a great episode-
>And Mab-
>I love that episode.
>It's NOT a great-
>It's been noted as one of the best in fan listings.
>I have no idea what the lore is even about. It's like their uncle has a secret twin and he has 6 fingers for some reason and he went to another dimension by accide- That's where I lose interest and I walk away.
>You know what, Peter-
>Their second uncle is a SCIENTIST!
>The lore and theories people like to talk about is one of subtly, something you don't understand.
>I thought the gay cops were funny. That is my answer to that statement.
>Exactly.
>Well there you go.
>Homophobe.
>I like those couples, too.

maybe they weren't made because it would go into PETA-levels of animal abuse territory
Or it's simply that Nintendo might sue them really hard.

the media was ripe for making a Magical Girl deconstruction show featuring ORANGE MAN as an antagonist that dies in an extremely violent and gory way
This could actually be funny if leftists were even capable of humor these days. Unfortunately they are not, leaving most forms of political satire stuck six feet under.

Yknow, its kinda weird the pokemon anime hasnt really inspired any western 'deconstructions' afaik with how big it was.
With franchises like digimon and yokai watch, its just as much of a genre as magical girls are.
Ig its too much work to make the monster designs from scratch tho...
There was the occasional puddle deep parody like that one Johnny Test episode where they made Ash a villain, but nothing serious. I'm guessing that with how much of an effort it takes for anyone to care about genuine examples of the genre out of like three franchises, it probably isn't worth the effort of making your own series, designs, and mechanics while risking pissing off nintendo just to make a show about how much being a protagonist of that genre must suck, compared to Magical Girls where all you really have to do is draw an anime girl in a pretty dress with powers while going "Woah, but w-what if she didn't LIKE having a pretty dress and powers??"

I'm also surprised that with the popularity of Dragon Ball Z globally, there weren't any Western attempts to "deconstruct" it.
I'm dead certain someone in Mexico could probably get shot over that, so it's not really an easy target the same way Sailor Moon is. Plus, Dragon Ball's a little specific to deconstruct with a whole series, isn't it? Like, you can critique the surface level shonen tropes, but even the show itself has deconstructed a few of those, from power levels being shit that'll get you killed if you trust a scouter to tell you who you can win against or not, to the super saiyan grades and third transformation being useless (you know, back before all the Super Blue Ultra Instinct Ego Beast stuff), to the show's protagonist going "on second thought, I better stay dead", to even the overuse of the dragon balls in GT,
Why do these millennial writers that rip off magical girl anime only choose to rip-off a few select ones, namely Sailor Moon and Madoka? I don't remember anyone trying to rip off Nanoha, PreCure, or even the edgy and violent Madoka rip-offs like Magical Girl Raising Project or Magical Girl Site.
Sometimes I wanna watch more Magical Girl media so I can actually say more instead of just going off vibes, but I'll admit it feels like every western magical rip-off/parody I've seen has just been a cheap knockoff of sailor moon or Madoka without much interest in actually engaging with the genre beyond the aesthetic of just being spiderman but in a dress or something.

doubleposting to respond to this; What way is there really to deconstruct "summonable battle monsters" that hasn't already been done to death? See also: every Flash parody of Pokemon ever. Oh no, the 12 year olds are wandering the world without adult supervision! What if the pokemon don't WANT to fight and now it's an allegory for animal abuse? Team Rocket actually KILLS the pokemon! You can't keep a fire type as a pet, they'll burn your house down! Mr. Mime is fucking Ash's mom!
You're not wrong, of course, I just don't think there's any valid material here that hasn't already been explored in crass Newgrounds animations 15 years ago.

Nintendo would court-rape them.

Wake up chumps! The second ep of "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to Be a Magical Girl" has hit the Internet.

... 2 mins in, and I'm already getting tortured by the "quirky chungus" humor.
i ended up watching this and like i said with the pilot/first episode it's alright at best but the humor just made me roll my eyes. I will admit that i found aika and that star things dynamic to be neat.

once again, eclipse continues to the best character. I hope in the future of this series they atleast expand more on zira's character bc she's probably one the biggest flaws for me personally.

I’m very glad these shitbags don’t know enough about anime to ruin Slayers.

The oldschool libtards who do know Slayers can't be bothered. Sometimes I wonder if OK-KO or that pedo's-sword fantasy show I can't recall the name of was the closest someone got to doing their own Slayers.

Oh shit ninja'd by @Castoreum lol.

I briefly wondered what would have happened if someone tried to do a "feminist friendly" version of the Dirty Pair show and I realized it would the same stronk woman, as a lesbian couple, that no-one likes that's everywhere these days (of course, these two were hetero).

I dare a current day western cartoonist to fully animate a gun.

Pretty sure that one woke magical girl show with the red panda was essentially Dirty Pair but they're loser magical girls.
