I don't believe there's anything we can do legally to save the animation industry in America.
Step one:
Make accessible, high quality animated content that appeals to general audiences
Step two:
Figure out how on earth to successfully market it to general audiences

Untie that Gordian Knot, Alexanders, and the world will be yours.

You can get a job in the cartoon industry if you're good at it. That's all. The bitches bitching in these screenshots are just like any other showbusiness failure. They just weren't good. We, as humans, have the right to the freedom to give it our best shot, but there's a reason we're all posting on KF instead of mastering our latest record. Go to art school, audition for the TV show, start a band, but you'll never make a living unless you're the best. And it's OK to only be good enough to make a little money. Try your best, but don't pretend to be something you're not.

It's also surprising that there isn't an indie union movement for independent game companies. Indie animation studios need to collaborate for a greater cause, or they risk facing the same fate as their larger corporate counterparts like Warner Bros. or Walt Disney Animation Studios. In my view, the situation could deteriorate further in the coming years.
What would a union accomplish exactly? Their corporate counterparts jettisoned their 2D animation because it was too expensive and a fat blob of animators certainly couldn't be that much cheaper. The only way I could ever conceive of American animation making a revival is if some studio moved to a 3rd world country and started slumming it just for the sake of getting some cartoons out the door.

They can always go non-union. SAG been losing the battle since their failed boycott with Genshin Impact. The only issue as I said is no one is going to find like-minded people to help each other. They're just gonna fight each other until they are cooked. Time is running out for the animation industry. They could get replaced by anime sadly.

Been thinking about it and Elio was doomed to fail. Little boys don't go to movies to see movies about their lives. Boys go to movies to see cool shit and some pansy crying about dead parents and aliens is the exact opposite of cool.
While aliens are cool and Batman is also cool while having dead parents he cries about, the problem is more the "little boy" part. Little boys don't want to be little boys, they want to be big strong men.

How to play like a girl (On how Boys and Girls differ in play)

"Representation" as we know it today is more of a female thing.

Boys embody characters (pretend they are them and live up to the ideal) while girls like to project themselves onto characters (try to find themselves in the character). That's why boys can identify with medieval knights, superheroes and aliens, but Lego needed to start their Lego Friends line to effectively cater to girls.

(Mind you, this isn't a bad thing. Men and Women are just different)

It comes as little surprise then, that this movie was written by a woman (who also wrote Turning Red)

I don't know who the fuck these people are who "developed" the story, they mention only the last (?) names like I'm supposed to know who these niggers are. No doubt there was a lot of projection and a desire to "shape boys" going on in the writing process, instead of creating an appealing masculine ideal to strive towards, which is what boys crave. Think of Spiderman, Batman, He-Man, Son Goku, Simba, Luke Skywalker - that's what they all have in common. (They also all have dead parents/father figures and many are rather alien, but that's an aside)
You can write a little boy character to hit the same notes, like Kevin from Home Alone, Pinocchio or Charlie from Willy Wonka, but Elios wasn't it from what I've heard - and I'm guessing it is the female touch that marred this production.

Agreed, the whole point of killing a young character’s parents was traditionally to free them up to do adult plot stuff uncharacteristic of childhood. When you already have a cute little kid (I mean I guess they intended for him to be cute; tbh, idk) you don’t need to ladle on bonus pathos. Making him seem extra helpless made the whole thing feel extra pathetic. Big Mars Needs Moms vibes coming off of this trailer. Once again, the audience feels like an afterthought.

Apparently Julia Kaye, the voice of Snapdragon in High Guardian Spice and former storyboard artist for Big City Greens and Jellystone, has started an Onlyfans account.
Ugh. Sic semper tyrannis. Don’t Google her face, you’ll regret it.

Is there anything we can do ill-legally?? I'm not asking for glowie reasons, but it was kind of funny to include the word "legally" here like there's some obvious illegal solution.
The future of animation may lie in illegal pirate underground studios. These studios could create superior, albeit bootlegged, versions of existing cartoons and anime, offering better animation, voice acting, and animator support, funded through cryptocurrency and anonymous networks. Eventually, these bootlegs could surpass the quality of official releases.

How would bootlegging the current cartoonslop be any better? The closest I can think of to this happening already is the few people on YouTube making fanart of the beta version of Disney's Wish, when the star was still a cute boy that fell in love with Asha, but that's not exactly inspiring a giant movement afaik.

If Hollywood's animation studios decline, future animators should explore underground, independent avenues, free from corporate rules, toxicity, and exploitation. American animation's recovery seems unlikely through traditional means. One solution might be relocating animation production to countries where creators have greater autonomy. Alternatively, genuine, impactful protests are needed, going beyond superficial actions.

Illicit, independent creation offers another path. While major studios like Warner Bros., Disney, and Dreamworks might face bankruptcy, animators could self-educate and utilize open-source software like Blender, which has gained recognition for its animation capabilities, potentially inspiring new styles.

Although 3D modeling has been criticized, advancements in Blender allow for the creation of 3D animations that mimic 2D styles, offering a cost-effective and time-saving alternative. Talented individuals could recreate both 2D and 3D styles effectively. Better media can be produced independently.

This transition might take decades, occurring long after current generations are gone. However, future animators, whether descendants of established animators or independent artists, could find opportunities in underground studios, utilizing Blender (which also supports 2D art) for its reusable models and cel-shaded aesthetics, even simulating high-budget film scenes. Humanity has a history of rebuilding and innovating.

From my perspective, there is certainly a market for high-quality, illegal, underground bootleg media that surpasses official products. It's not a question of if, but when. One of these days, the Deep Web and piracy sites will start producing their own high-quality illegal bootlegs of anime and cartoons, which may lean towards either left or right-wing narratives. Additionally, the Public Domain might contribute to this trend in the future, but that's a topic for another discussion.

Do you guys think if tumblr didn’t ban porn or it never existed we wouldn’t have this happening
Wasn't tumblrs issue that pedophiles on it were having teen girls make CP and the Feds were getting pissed about it? It's why they were getting deleted from the appstore. They were an app that generated child pornography.

Less that, more that the app was being threatened with removal from the app store if adult content wasn't curtailed. This itself stemmed from payment processors threatening to cut off the app stores if adult content was not regulated correctly, or something like that.
