Case in point, Wastelandia is a cartoon with a fundamentally dull concept, and the meta / referential flourishes only serve to make the pilot even less appealing. In fact, most 21st century cartoons have the same problem.
The post saying just play NITW nailed it, there's really no need for further need for another "adulting hard haha" installation and NITW is getting long in the tooth. We even already have the animated furry equivalent with Tuca and Bertie.
Am I saying NITW and Tuca&Bertie are great? Not really, but if you can't see yourself bringing anything more interesting than those two to the "20-something struggles" genre it seems easier to just find another premise to run with. Im not even opposed to slice of life stuff, but terminally online characters just dont make an engaging cast unless you go full Lain with it and have the shown be about them becoming totally unhinged or have it be in their perspective where these internet exchanges are blown up and dramatized

I’m sure that due to Notch’s controversies people have put forward the idea that it’s intentional, but it doesn’t seem to have gotten as much traction as the Harry Potter goblin conspiracy theory. In general, Notch is far less hated than J.K. Rowling is, so it makes sense. Most likely because Notch mostly just made some histrionic fedposts a few years ago while Rowling actually works to shut down troonism.

It's been ages since I last read the books, but were how the goblins described in text exactly how they look in the movies-proper? It's more likely whoever was in charge of the costume and creature designs gave them the Jew look than Rowling did (although I assume she had to approve everything).

Here's how they're described when they first appear, in Philosopher's Stone:
‘Yeah, that’s a goblin,’ said Hagrid quietly as they walked up the white stone steps towards him. The goblin was about a head shorter than Harry. He had a swarthy, clever face, a pointed beard and, Harry noticed, very long fingers and feet.
I ctrl + f through Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban, but didn't find another description. I figure the movies based them on this description and the traditional look of goblins.

I don't know how much power Rowling had regarding designs. I doubt she was given final say on them—it seems like a logistical nightmare and authors don't usually have that much power. For what is worth, we have Chris Columbus, the director of the first couple movies, going around now saying this regarding the HBO show:
He's wearing the exact same costume that we designed for Hagrid. Part of me was like: What’s the point? I thought the costumes and everything was going to be different, but it’s more of the same. It’s all going to be the same. It’s very flattering for me, because I’m like, that’s exactly the Hagrid costume that we designed. So, part of it is really exciting, so I’m excited to see what they’re going to do with it. Part of it is sort of deja vu all over again.

Do these people also think that in Minecraft, the villagers represent Jews and the endermen represent niggers?
Villagers have big noses, love trading/money, and construct golems. Endermen are tall, black, hate water/can't swim, and are obsessed with balls (ender pearls.) Hmmmm 🤔

The Villager’s arms are always together, which kind of resembles the Happy Merchant pose. Endermen also come from a different dimension and steal blocks.

Edit: Also, Pillagers used to do what appears to be a Nazi salute when they were not holding their crossbows.

Dana Terrence's GLITCH-produced show has an official trailer now.

There are already comments talking about how the trailer's supposed to be a middle finger to Disney and their exploitative industry practices. I can't be too mad about it since Disney can go suck tissue paper but again... this is Dana Terrence we're talking about. The Owl House creator.

People will glaze this like mad, acting like it's the ultimate self own to Disney despite no one at Disney will be affected by this. It does suck her show got canned early and that's the last thing any show creator should suffer from. But again, this is Dana Terrence we're talking about.
How nice we're going to get more lgbt+++ representation! Never seen that in indie animation before! Can't wait for fat lesbians of color adventures and defeating the villain: Adolf Vutin FaultSidney of orangeman!!!!1!

Owl House is the most overrated mid show. it's only relevant for mentally ill adults weirdly obsessed with little girls being in a lesbian relationship. It's nothing but underdeveloped plots and worldbuilding but who cares about that only prom and being le hecking queer is important bro!!!!

Funnily enough iirc, one of the bigger issues the fandom usually complained about was the fact most people only cared about The Owl House and stayed in it cause it had a lesbian couple, both kids at that mind you. Though, at the end of the series, Luz was 17 at that point so it wasn't like the two got together right at 14 or anything. But Luz and Amity got together at around Season 2 when she was between 15 - 16, so uh. Yeah.

It's still crazy how desperate people want to see two kids in an LGBT relationship. They talk about the evil conservatives making a big deal over kids being LGBT but here they are making it at every interval to go nuts because two kids of the same sex blushed at each other. If y'all wanted rep so badly and didn't make the people already critical of you guys even more critical, maybe just treat an LGBT character like a character and NOT rely on the fact they're some flavor of queer? All it does is make people raise eyebrows on why you're losing it over a child being gay or something.

Honestly, I prefer Gravity Falls version of LGBT rep because it was more on the sidelines with those two cops and could easily be ignored. But when you're watching a show where a majority of the fanbase only care about it because it has le hecking lesbians in it, then it becomes a whole 'nother can of worms.

You know Disney cancelled the show because of Lumity right?

wow really painting the word picture there

Wouldn't Disney, being the head honcho on the entire production, be able to just... make the relationship not happen?

If they cancelled it because "lesbians bad mkay" they would've never let the characters get together to begin with, not waited until after they were already together then cancelled the show because of it lmao. Letting homoshit be plastered all over the screen for 2 seasons then pulling the plug on season 3 because of that same homoshit makes no fucking sense.

Hell if Disney hates the gays so much they'd cancel an entire show over it, they could've just put their foot down and said no romance from the start. The characters are all kids anyways.

Is this just another case of the same retarded cope where the reason the last season of The Legend of Korra was web-exclusive was totally because of the Korasami gay shit and not because the viewership was cratering and no one was watching the show?

Perhaps the show creators cancelled it themselves after being told to tone down the gay shit. And now, in the indie animation scene, nobody shall tell them what amount of faggotry is too much.
