Castlevania Thread - Vampires, Whips, and Horror's Greatest Hits Now In One Gaming Franchise

Who else can be the antagonist? Galamoth?
Galamoth would be a good antagonist. Somebody so evil, so corrupt and demonic that Dracula and his forces team up, or at least offer aid, to the current Belmont in a bid to stop him from taking over the Netherworld.

Of course I wouldn't trust the current gaggle of faggots and fart-huffers to pull that off. God knows that they'd try to give Galamoth a tragic backstory and you all know what they'd do when said faggots find out about the Frozen Half enemies.

My man, Circle is not difficult, it's plain fucking bad, janky, and bullshit.

I know the game was made in just 3 weeks to release alongside GBA but this game is completely unfair and retarded. Almost every boss has infinite random projectiles that force you to either die like an idiot or use a shield, basically no healing items and not even healing orbs after killing bosses, and the next save room is 10 miles away after a gauntlet of enemies.

Also, no backdash and double tap to run. How are you supposed to avoid anything that way? It's just fucking painful.

Fuck Circle of the Moon.
Still better than Harmony of Dissonance

>Nigganette gets BLEACHED (I guess, because they kept their pants/clothes on) while Monster Mulatto sings something in italian inside a boat going to Haiti where they're killing all whites and mutts (and I guess even blacks who sided with whites), no exceptions
What did they mean by this?
And people wonder why I shit on Konami and refuse to have Netflix in my place. God, they ruined Richter.

I could forgive Cirlce of the Moon for all of its bullshit because it was a first gen GBA game. Harmony of Dissonance, however, is a different story. There was no excuse for HoD (and pesonally, I hate Maxim).

Grimoire of Souls also basically hearkens back to that. Past a point, Vlad really is just a conductor for the worst of humanity and he really would just like to stay fucking dead, but humans just keep bringing him back over and over again.
Wait,so Soma is in front of everybody in Grimoire of Souls (more like Grimoire of Soullessness the gacha), and you don't even get to fucking use him out a possible summons?! And Konami is so lazy they used old art from Harmony of Despair and SoTN?! Really?

This is the Castlevania fanbase now.

I think a big issue of modern takes of Castlevania is making Dracula too much of a victim.
Absolutely. Same thing they do with The Devil (looking at you Hazbin Hotel). Dracula is one of the most instantly recognizable villains in all of pop culture since 1897, stop trying to make him an UwU sadboi Tumblr Sexyman.
This series is for tourists
You know. I’ve been a major opponent to Gatekeeping in the past as I hate elitism when it comes to movies/games/etc, especially when it comes to franchises like Fallout as Fallout elitists are extremely egregious.
But now that I’ve seen this shit done to franchises that I love like Star Wars and Castlevania…I’m conflicted. I still hate the term “Tourist” when used in this regard, but I find the intent of it to be accurate.
So now I’m not fully sure if I hate Gatekeeping as much as I did.

All of Netflixvania is made for “tourists” or Fake Fans as I prefer.
Always thought it was a "what in the unholy name of ass is this fuckness ?!!"

Wait, that's not a word? Well...it should be!
I understood that reference instantly.
Please God, take me back to the simpler times. Please Lord I beg of you.

If my chooses are the fags from No Mutants Allowed or the retards from r/Fallout then I'm just going to kill myself.

I used to feel similarly, I actually wanted more people to like the shit that I like. But now I see that the bare minimum amount of people should like something, just enough to justify its existence financially. I've seen too much destroyed.

I apologize in advance for my political sperging, yet I find it prudent to specifically mention the obvious political circus that has been injected into the Castlevania Netflix-series.

I recently re-visisted the second season of Castlevania: Nocturne, and I feel the need to add further annoyance to my previous post in this thread.

Not only do I intensely dislike the general politically correct shenanigans injected into the TV-series, but I most especially dislike the ostensible link between African Americans and Egyptians that the series tries to establish as some sort of fact in the vein of "We Wuz Kangs".
They really do try to pass the mythology of the Egyptian Gods as if they were originally belonging to African-Americans. It's incredibly grating and on the nose — just as intended, I suppose.

Spoilers: I don't particularly mind Richter Belmont getting together with black Annette, nor do I particularly object to Olrox being of Mesoamerican origin and being homo-/bisexual, but when you combine the two, along with all the rest of the politically correct nonsense injected into the Netflix series, it all becomes extremely grating.

On account of the excellent animation, and particularly the excellent action-sequences, I so very much want to give this TV-series nothing but a standing ovation, but they just have to fuck it all up with their inane, Current Year™ nonsense.

Oh well; the second season of Nocturne do end on a very intriguing, albeit very saddening, note (spoilers): A cliffhanger, if you will, what with Tera being seemingly influenced by "Old Man Coyote/Mephistopheles". I am curious as to what the third season will bring to the story, if a third season is ever produced.

excellent animation
excellent action-sequences (like with this scene)

Did we watch the same show? No way that powerpoint framerate choppy, ADHD-ridden shit is amazing and deserving of ovation. I can't find it now, but someone in 4chan had posted a clip of a battle scene (I think it was Nogta vs Richter) that was just so fucking bad. And Richter doesn't even use the whip on teh ebik final battle scene, he grabs Alucard's sword and magically makes it bigger to cut Nogta in half, cue the "ooohhh u see that so fricking amazing" from tourists.
If the producers had just said "this is like the Lords Of Shadow games, it shares some names and themes but it's its own thing" I'd give it more leeway, but no, they keep swearing it's a great Rondo adaptation (WHEN THE GAMES NEVER HAPPENED IN FRANCE AND ALUCARD WAS SLEEPING DURING THAT GAME AND ONLY WOKE UP IN SOTN WHEN RICHTER DISAPPEARED, UGH).

I was about to correct you on your spelling of "Drolta", but I catch your drift... :-)

I haven't come across the clip you're referring to, but I really don't think you give the action sequences their due credit. Ever since the first season of Netfix's Castlevania-series, I believe that the action sequences have been outstanding overall.

Take this scene (spoilers) between Trevor Belmont and Alucard from season 1, for example. I don't know how difficult it is to animate these kinds of fighting sequences in general, but I imagine that it's even harder when you have to factor in the movement of a whip — what with it being so very dynamic in its movements — into the equation. I simply must commend the animation team(s) hired by Netflix for their work in this regard. I love the way in which they've animated Trevor's feint, for example.
And Richter doesn't even use the whip on teh ebik final battle scene, he grabs Alucard's sword and magically makes it bigger to cut Nogta in half, cue the "ooohhh u see that so fricking amazing" from tourists.
I get you, but I still don't believe this scene warrants that much hate, even though it'd have been especially awesome if Richter finished Drolta off with the Belmont-whip, i.e. the "Vampire Killer".
Alucard, his sword and Richter's magic (which he has inherited from Sypha Belnades) are also important elements to the story and the franchise, after all.
In this regard, I agree. We'll just have to consider these adaptations as alternative lore, with or without it being considered "canon" or whatnot.

One of my co-workers in my last workplace was a true lover of Harry Potter. He once told me how immensely disappointed he was with the book Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

I've never been a particularly devoted fan to the Harry Potter franchise myself, even though I enjoyed the first two books very much as a child, and so I was curious as to why he disliked the book so much. It turns out that it isn't written by Joanne Rowling, and it characterized some of the main characters of the books written by Rowling in an apparently bad way. Many of the main characters from the original series simply don't behave as they "should" have in the book, according to my co-worker. He didn't want to recognize the book as part of the "official" lore, but had to begrudgingly accept that ms. Rowling had given the book her stamp of approval. As such, it was considered to be at the very least "pseudo-canon" as far as the "official" lore goes.

As of now, I'm at least somewhat comfortable with the idea of "head-canon", i.e. parts of the lore in whatever franchise you're invested in that is purely derivative of what you personally consider to be acceptable or not.

I suppose this is how we must approach the Castlevania-series! :-)

I've never had any particular misgivings about the Lords of Shadow-series, by the way. It gives an alternative take on the Castlevania-story, and I like it.
