Castlevania Thread - Vampires, Whips, and Horror's Greatest Hits Now In One Gaming Franchise

I'm still pissed that we didn't at least get that battle of 1999 game with Julius.
Konami is just one disappointment after another. It’s a wonder they ever made games, let alone as many classics as they did. They scrap decent ideas, but let dogshit pass.

How hard is it to take the Castlevania elements, refine a Bloodborne style gameplay for a foundation, and come back with a new game?

I guess as hard as it is to stop letting a bunch of western helmet-less tards ruin your IP.

I feel like Annette being an ugly nigger with ugly nigger hair and an ugly 2010s hood nigger personality should also be a big problem.
Her and Bathory’s weird delivery/sounding like her lines were recorded in a fucking shed are probably the worst parts of the new show. They could probably even make the gay Aztec/Knight Hospitalier thing sort of work if they’d made it completely one-sided on Olrox’s part.

The fact that they’re fucking at all, and immediately too, is weird as shit.

Nigger holy shit, did you actually have a whole thesis written up and waiting to just dump the moment someone said you had shit taste?
lol. I finished watching and writing last month and sat on it for this very occasion.

A fair amount of it felt rushed. Like someone cut the script down significantly.

There's a throwaway character named Jacques who barely has any screentime before dying in the 1st episode and we are supposed to remember him when he comes back 6 episodes later as a night creature.

Sometimes (a lot of times), men like a good old fashioned damsel in distress, it really did help further establish Richter as the superhero of the Belmont Clan.
Oh Id take the original version any day of the week. Ive just seen so many poorly written shitty race swaps Id like to comment that this is far more tolerable then the others. (still completely unnecessary though.)

I know I'm asking a question with an obvious answer here but why?

Honestly? Adi Shankar fascinates me and im thinking about watching everything he's been a part of. Ive only seen castlevania and I want to know if he's really that bad. Man did help produce Dredd and The Grey.

It's really his taste more then anything else. He doesnt write so much as ok the scrips and adjust as needed.

I miss it, even Mario is transitioning away from that.

I never played Symphony of the Night or Rondo of Blood.
You're not missing much, SotN is overrated as hell. It's really good halfway through and has some iconic elements, but it's not the pinnacle of the series people make it out to be.

And the non-Metroidvania entries are unfairly difficult, Bloodstained hit a much better balance. Konami should pay attention to that spiritual successor series if they ever make more games.

Because he has shit taste.

Honestly, it's not that Annette's black. It's that she's someone's bitchy, more-oppressed-than-thou OC who's shoved into the spotlight while the actual main character is pushed into the background while she lectures him, and the rest of the cast for being "privileged", and on the horrors of slavery.

Really, anyone who spergs about "muh racism" in regard to people hating Annette needs to shut the hell up because Isaac, and Olrox also got race-swapped, and they don't have the same problems she does. Hell, Isaac was also a slave, and he doesn't bring it up constantly like her, and Olrox is a fucking fag who we have to see naked lying next to the dude he just boned, and yet he's still more tolerable than she is.

Nu-Isaac wasn't really a bad character, arguably he's an excellent one, but to me he just didn't quite gel. It's as if somebody made a pretty decent OC with a good character arc and instead of making their own Castlevania-inspired show with him in it just shoe-horned him into an existing character.

I didnt see her as being that bitchy or lecturing aside from one or two moments but yeah it doesnt take much to sour a character when that happens.

she wasnt like Isaac, who basically was a completely different character, but still stood on his own as being interesting. im not going to remember Annette for anything her character did as opposed to Isaac's arc.

That's every character in Netflixvania though.

I’d argue that SotN actually holds up very well aside from having to equip and use consumables in your weapon slots. What would you say is the best one? I still need to a proper playthrough of Bloodstained. I have copy on GoG but never got around to it.

Gameplay wise, the DS games are fucking gems, even with the anime artstyle that Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin had. Aria of Sorrow on the GBA is possibly the best game in the entire series right up there with SOTN.
