CenturyLink/Qwest/Layer3 blocks Kiwi Farms

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm probably echoing the sentiments of others, but we must hold the line. Appeasement doesn't work, neither does giving into adult temper tantrums. We can't let the internet be censored to protect egos & feelings, or it'll lead down a slippery slope into a corp/govt/ngo wasteland where you can't say or do anything except consoom product and agree with The Message. It's up to us to fight for our freedom to troll & shitpost, and teach others that they must learn to deal with mean words on a screen.

I have Xfinity. I have not been able to access KiwiFarms through Private Internet Access -> US Denver for the past several weeks. I actually thought the website was down this whole time.

I can access KF without the VPN, and following someone's mentioning of Norway, I tried connecting through Norway and it worked. I am not sure what is going on, but I am writing about my issues here just in case anyone is experiencing the same thing.

I also happen to have PIA so I switched over to US Denver and can confirm that KF does not load on that server. I tried a few other servers which all work fine (US Salt Lake City, Wyoming, Nebraska, New Mexico, and also Moldova). It's also worked without a VPN for a while. I have Centurylink.

It looks like I'm not the only person with the Private Internet Access VPN issue. I just tested it again and Kiwi Farms is still not accessible through US Denver. There is no way this is a coincidence. One controversial website just happens to not load through their Colorado routing? I am wondering if someone involved has blocked this website through the state somehow.

If anyone here has Private Internet Access, please test if you can access Kiwi Farms when connected to US Denver. If you cannot and receive a "Page could not be loaded" instead, please open a support ticket with PIA asking them why this website is being blocked through that region.

If this doesn't get fixed I am going to switch to another VPN.

It might help Null a lot if you perform a tracert to kiwifarms.net when connected to the US Denver PIA location. I'd reckon he can't do much troubleshooting this without that.

PIA responded by claiming they don't know what is causing it (but that they see the same issue from their end), that KF might be blocking the IP server, and that since they don't keep logs they can't check or know why it's specific to that server only (despite the fact that they can reproduce it themselves??):

Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to us here at Private Internet Access Support!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues accessing https://kiwifarms.net/ when connected to US Denver. Let me assist you with your concern.

We have tested the issue on our end, and we are getting the same results: the US Denver server is unable to access the website, and it is only specific to US Denver.

It's possible that the IP of the server is being blocked by the website. As we do not keep logs, we cannot check or know why it's specific to that server only.

You can use other servers or other US servers on the list instead when accessing https://kiwifarms.net/.

If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us again.

I don't know what the correct response is to this other than protesting by not using PIA. @Null should I be PMing you and asking if you are blocking certain IPs, and then messaging them back and being like: "The person who owns the website states they are not blocking the IPs, wtf, fix this? It's on your end!" Someone give me some advice.

Edit: The PMed tracert confirmed that their upstream is Cogent which is blackholing KF through GTT. I've contacted them with this information but am not expecting much.

I couldn't connect this morning, it came back up but I'm back on tor again. This morning it was this, I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to this again

Can't load the site on clearnet here either. USA, traceroute dead-ends at ip4.gtt.net like other users' logs above. Tor is fine.

What's this GTT, anyway? Global Tranny Telecommunications?

Clearnet down for me, on Centurylink. Craps out after 11 hops but strangely starts getting ping replies again afterwards. Working fine on Clearnet-over-Tor.

Mine isn't crapping out at gtt.net, it's crapping out after gin.ntt.net.

I was about to run a traceroute again, I was still unable to connect again this morning (about two hours ago) through both my home and mobile connections, checked again just now before doing it and I'm back

For future info on outages/maintenance/etc the kiwifarms telegram is once again publicly (pre)viewable
