Centurylink sold their legacy copper based infrastructure and operations in 2021. They just transferred employees and assets a few months ago, this may be location dependent.

the article in the link includes a map that explains some of this. lumen technologies sold more than half of their u.s. assets. what they retained (in the blue) is still centurylink. what they sold (in the orange) is now apollo. in other words, if you live in an orange state, you are no longer a centurylink customer, so no issues. and if you live in a grey state, centurylink is not an isp for your service, so no issues for you either.

It's a nasty practice typically reserved for abusers when applied to networks they don't own. The fact that it can be done with no accountability or opportunity to appeal is ridiculous plus they don't even have to give a reason or notify anybody that they're doing it.

The argument of "private companies can do whatever they want" imo doesn't apply when your responsibility is that of a carrier. If senior management at DHL decided to create a special "Do Not Deliver" list and put troons on it specifically because they're troons, I'm sure they'd be fucking fuming as their deliveries of HRT suddenly go missing for seemingly no reason.

I would die to know what the hell is happening behind the scenes. When the site got its current hosting and the tronsquad's crybullying got Kiwifarms blocked by half of America it felt like a logical next step for their crusade (albeit completely cringe and retarded). But once all if it got lifted mysteriously I thought somebody high up realized that this would spell disaster for them and decided it wasn't worth it and their momentum deflated. I may look like a complete retard in a few days if this gets worse but considering what people in this thread are saying it seems that the ISP who is doing this happens to be one of the worst you could possibly sign up to. I wonder, how much of this is just a shit company being a shit company or LFJ and the usual suspects have been quietly sperging out this whole time and this is their first pathetic victory in months. I have said this before and I will say it again. While the farms that has taken so much work and so much money and time to keep working is amazing and frankly a service to all, the offsites are where shit gets nebulous, and that's the vector you'll see moved on soon to shut this place down for good. All that said, I think it's important to not take this place all that seriously. I disagree that this forum is completely a "gossip site", having lurked it since 2015. farms freedom is what makes it a problem though, while you generally get banned for basically everything outside the farms which may or may not include going against The Message, on the farms you get banned for A - violating US laws with your posts, B - being too much of a retard but that yields threadbans at best or C - annoying null while he's having a bad day, the rest is free game and may net you negrates if you like stickers, the site did evolve past being a simple gossip site because when the others were forced to close that brought made some of their members migrate here and said members eventually helped shape a bit of their old community into the farms, that happened naturally instead of artificially so it seems to be fine.

If the one thing the so-called "Twitter files" revealed it's how a huge tech company can have utterly shit security with a majority of employees having access to functions they shouldn't have. I absolutely think a lot of these cases we've seen have been rogue employees, especially those where the company have seemingly backed down fast.

I also think a lot of these blockings have had suspicious timing - just before the holidays, which makes it harder to contact them and ensures a longer period of KF being blocked.

Is this something one could report to CL? A web provider purposely severing the connection to a website without a technical cause or not notifying the web admin with a reason is extremely fucked up and unusual.
