Chainsaw Man - Peak Fiction in the making

I need to either read the manga, or stop checking this thread. On the plus side, I did suspect the worst of Makima instantly.
I have been going out of my way to make it as spoiler free as I can by using devil names rather than their actual character names, but even I can only do so much.

Just be careful of the door devil, it is truly the most powerful devil.

i forgot to mention how fucked it is for adults to force a 16 year old kid to kill devils for them but god forbid, we cant let him have a sip of booze because that would be illegel.

i laughed.

Or have sex with an adult because "Still a minor!" But if he doesn't do what we want, we can kill him at any time. Also, he's no longer considered human and has no rights.

Is the manga worth diving into or should I stick with the anime? I'm really enjoying the anime so far but I've always had trouble getting into mangas for some reason

Anime has been an absolute banger so far for sure.

I'm not much of a manga guy either but I ended up reading the entire thing in a single day lol, I say it's absolutely worth it, such a super fun read.

So I've gleaned this about Makima or the 'Control' Devil. Basically, it seems like she can completely subsume people's will. Especially people who die and she seems to naturally attract 'loyalty'. In fact, its clear Power knows exactly who Makima is from the beginning and is terrified to defy her (Either through fear of being subsumed or just how powerful Makima herself is). The same thing with Denji himself to an extent. The enjoyment and destruction of personalities and breaking people's wills down.

In all honesty, it should be a dead giveaway that Makima is something way more than she seems right from the beginning, because Power isn't afraid of any human, no matter how powerful (Aki or later on his trainer), but is absolutely PETRIFIED by Makima and there's really no reason she should be, as Makima is presented pretty much as a high level pencil pusher at that point. On that note, its fucking BATSHIT CRAZY that a manga called fucking 'Chainsaw Man' has better and more subtle foreshadowing than 2022 Hollywood.

Also, Chainsaw Man has to literally eat them to destroy concepts. Not merely kill them. And technically Chainsaw doesn't eat Makima, Denji does, which is why control wasn't eradicated. If it even could be, as its implied Control can understand, if only briefly, what concepts have been deleted.

I don't think she can control the dead, but basically anyone less powerful than her can be subsumed by her it seems as they're basically puppets of her will at that point. We can surmise that Chainsaw is stronger than her bonds of control, maybe because she never really saw Denji or even understood him. Its hard to say, as there's still a lot to go as the manga is still going on.

But I do look forward to the absolute implosion of the fanbase once its pretty clear anyone and everyone can die. Because if people are reeing about Kobeni and Makima being a groomer fucking lol at the future.
The simple way that I think of her power is "If she has any authority over you, she has unlimited authority over you."

That being said, any Farmer could kick her ass by pointing and laughing about her vore fetish until her ego is crushed.

Its not like other manga's that drag on endlessly to get as many sales as possible (and to buy time for the writer to come up with the plot they didn't plan out beforehand).

The plot actually moves forward at a brisk pace and engaging things happen in pretty much every chapter. Hell, the entirety of part 1, which in any normal manga would be 200+ chapters, is only 90 something chapters long. I don't need to say anything about the drawing of the manga itself, its pretty self-explanatory that its amazing.

Once the anime is done airing, I may look into the manga. God knows how long it'll be until it continues

The animation for this episode is honestly really good and some of the shots are pretty great. Though the weakest part was when Denji and Himeno were eating because it barely looked like they took a bite of their sandwich despite fucking chewing on it. Weird nitpick but it flared up my OCD

But I will say I like how the Snake Devil looks in the anime compared to the manga.

I've never been "in the know" about a show because I had read it beforehand, and its mad funny seeing all the "If only you knew how bad things really are" moments people are going to be having as it continues.

How does everyone feel about the 2nd part of the Chainsaw Man manga? I read the manga last year and liked it, but with pretty much all the secondary characters being killed off and the story feeling pretty wrapped up I don't know how much I'd care to follow up just on Denji's character alone. Is it worth keeping up with part 2?

Too early to tell TBH. Denji is sort of co-leading with a new character who is interesting enough to follow (they basically inverse mirror Denji character wise, something I am always a fan of).

Nothing major has gone down, but they are definitely building to something. Not sure what though, which is good because I love the twists and turns because they make a lot of sense in retrospect in this manga.

So far Part 2 has a bit of a slow start, but it looks to be interesting with the last chapter probably being the best one for Part 2. It's honestly early to tell since Part 2 just had it's 14th chapter which in Part 1 was around the time of the Eternity Devil arc.
