Chainsaw Man - Peak Fiction in the making

Nice to see some shit finally hitting the wall. But the drawing has lacked "impact" for a while now, I'm honestly wondering if the mangaka has some sort of problem which is making it all look extra scribbly.

Alrighty then. Either this is building up to the finale or they are going to find a way to reverse the chainsaw effect.

I'm going to give Zoomers a bone here and say it's probably more interesting this way. I've been trying to find a through line here to make sense of this story. Something I've noticed is despite being free from Makima's control last season, Denji just gets plunged into another prison. His life is dictated by Nayuta whom is his responsibility that he's not equipped for. As nice as their relationship is, she does act like his boss. Then Public Safety tries to control him. Then the Church tries to control him. Then Fami tries to control him. Finally Barem strips him of everything, Denji snaps, and loses Nayuta. Then Asa is dragging him around like a dog and bossing him around. Hell, his first sexual experience isn't even something he asked for or arguably wanted at the moment. Despite everything that's happened, he has no agency in his own life. He's technically not even in control of his own body as Barem now proves, forcibly transforming him into Chainsawman.

Bringing the squad of jobbers had to be intentional. What was ear devil going to do? Or partial croc face devil?

They were told to delay him and keep him in one place, so presumably they weren't ever expected to accomplish much beyond that. They have to know from past experience that Pochita will completely wipe the floor with anything and everything they could possibly send at him.

It definitely seemed planned. They were definitely testing something with the whole ear thing.

I can't predict what Fujimoto is cooking here. Lack of hearing hurts Public Safety's ability to communicate and plan, Pochita is completely unaffected, it only hurts them.

"See no evil, HEAR no evil, speak no evil" is what my autism conjured up.

My guess is that there either trying to gimp humanity so they aren't capable of creating devils anymore as a back up plan in case they can't kill the devil that will bring humanity to extinction. Public safety seems insane enough to think living like that is better than total extinction.

This is a good point. If not for Barem's meddling it would have been. Barem is affiliated with the church, not Public Safety, so it's doubtful his actions figured into their calculations. Hence why they let Chainsaw Devil devour something as important as the ability to hear. I keep forgetting he has completely separate loyalties.

I could see that, Pochita wouldn't be nearly as pissed. That said, how would it work with their contract?

but Denji being in control explains why he went after the Ear Devil because Denji has been verbally abused and manipulated by others his whole life, so it makes sense he'd go after it.
 
Yoshida saved Public Safety from the fraud allegations, what a man he is.

This chapter confirms that Chainsaw Man spitting things up does return them.
