I didn't think the rip-offs were that obvious until I kept scrolling and saw they had the audacity to attempt to steal Siren Head and make it a furry. How dare they.

I honestly just knew from the start, since I'm actually really into SCPs and what not. Kinda shitty to just shove someone's hard work and effort of a character and just.. make it a furry.

I remember girls trying to brag that their (totally real guiz!) boyfriend was in college, I remember sitting in 9th grade algebra and girls talking openly about how they would totes steal the 30-something math teacher right out from under his wife's nose, on the day he brought his infant daughter no less, and make sooooo many babies lyke omgz.

What I'm getting at is yes it's wildly inappropriate but also not unexpected.

There's also kids wandering around the internet like Reinagoth who gets discussed quite a lot in the Tearzah Hayes thread, who are groomed into thinking this kind of behavior is acceptable by predators like rottenginma who picked her up off the net when she was only 13.

Judging by this Mocha-Child's art style I'm going to hazard a guess and say she probably isn't any older than 16 (I checked her tumblr and she is 16, or younger if what @Stuckinatoaster says is true) so I can at least forgive her for being wildly misguided but it's better that other kids don't hang around her and have these toxic ideas rub off on them.

Keep in mind this person flirts with older men over discord as well, which sets off a fuckton of alarm bells. It's pretty much proven she might be groomed by a multitude of older men on the net. I completely understand why a lot of minors would be like this in that a sense you have said is mainly due to puberty. it is also likely that the same pedos that are misguiding with toxic ideals are probably infesting the server to groom kids as well. It's at this point just a giant grooming circle comparable to the Rotherham case.

Tbh I kind of like the idea of challenging furry art to be something more than it currently is. That said, I feel most artists that it lists there don’t think they’re doing that and are instead just doing art they like doing. Nothing wrong with that, but this article obviously tries to pull meaning that isn’t there from them.

I know about most of these species. The first is called cinnadogs and supposedly the owner of the species has quite a bit of drama around them. The closed eye dogs are Sushidogs and supposedly they are actually copyrighted (How you can copyright a species like them idk). Dainties actually tend to get a lot of flak from people since they are just satyrs but with stockings instead. Most people point to them and Cinnadogs for being unoriginal. Now, Mignyans aren't original when you take in the creator Casin0's actually said they got the idea from the movie The Thing. The reason it sold so high is because they're an extremely popular DA artists and the species is ridiculously hard to get a slot for. Most people who AB will end up making journals saying they need money and not realize people can see they were stupid and spent a literal grand upfront for a custom.

In all honesty, the closed species need their own forum. A lot of drama surrounds them and a lot of people will attack others for having 'knockoffs' of the species when the person has never heard of it. You also have people who'll just tweek a species a little and make a whole new one to sell off.

By the way, does anyone actually know why people will literally spend a thousand dollars on what is most likely something that already existed but some popular artist took and renamed them to make money off of? I'm just trying to wrap my head around why people are so desperate to buy a dog that is half food or some human with lizard tails.

I'm guessing it's because a lot of these people grew up with things like Neopets, Flight Rising, Waja Pets and so on and so forth. The fact that most of these sites also had you pay to have your own special critter that's unique to you is a telling trait from these closed species.

What gets me is that they honestly think their clusterfuck, okay-ish character designs are worth the $1,500 price tag.

Casin0's has a history of making good designs with darker pallets to a more monochrome scheme to them, but a lot of their audience likes their 'visual-kei' adopts more. Visual-kei is usually a clusterfuck of accessories, bright colors and gaudy patterns. She has a lot of people who are weeb fans since her style imitates older anime. Lysandre themselves has a love for that sort of shit too, I actually watch them on DA, and the custom will probably be a custerfuck of colors so bright it'll burn retinas.

The only thing I don't like is that they're called "tickle drakes". Knowing furries, that's someone's fetish. Other than that though, this species is kind of good imo. The artist doesn't have any dumb rules/traits for the species and can actually fucking draw. I mean, most closed species' refs are drawn in a generic and ugly furry/DA/Tumblr style, so this is actually impressive.

So what it's got like a fibrous membrane that grows up it's legs? Is it made out of keratin? Silica? Hair filaments? Scales? How the fuck do the "stockings" grow, what are they made of?

"X original species made from Y non-organic object" were cute in the beginning but you can only use "idk Magic(tm)" so many times before it feels like a cop-out to just mash any animal and plant, object or article of clothing together to make immense profit from furries. At least have some actual lore for fucksake.

The tickle drake one is pretty cool! It has potential, and you can tell a lot of thought went into this. It’s a bit overly complex, but not as bad as the others. What a terrible name though. And as a closed species... just... no.
