That's how it is with the news. It was CLEARLY on the parents, the environment he was in, and his own mental illness, but ooohh the newest shitty trend is all big and scary, so they give it ten times more importance in a story about a child committing suicide then it otherwise would have if he killed himself over Fortnite or something.
I'm sick of all the AI shit fucking up all the internet, but trying to falsely pin the death of a teenager on it is ridiculous.

He's always like this, he only ever provides surface level commentary with no nuance, he might have actually just deleted it for how retarded it is assuming he even has an ounce of self awareness.

I doubt it. If he does go after Trump it'll be the softest little love tap without actually saying what he doesn't like.
Charlie is a lot of things but I don't think he's retarded. I think he knows that his audience is just as likely made up of Trump supporters as it is Trump haters, and to play sides is to play with his money. Considering the year he's had so far, leaving his podcasts, I don't think he'll risk kicking that hornets nest especially now.

This is still a rare instance of a YouTuber learning from a mistake and changing his behavior in a positive way. Not in the sense that Charlie decided to become a serious adult commentator, or came out as an anti-trans crusader. That's our bias.

But he was doing little pieces on wacky news as well as gaming news, being a gamer. He covered a piece of gaming-adjacent news that was serious, from that same frivolous angle, and then another one. And then people started demanding his take on any gaming-adjacent scandal, in a timely fashion or else it counted as "why are you letting this go unnoticed," and he realized that people were ascribing to him a role he didn't want to take on.

Instead of stumbling rapidly from one mistake to another, like we'd expect from a lolcow, Charlie pulled back, looked at his obligations (explicit and implicit), made conscious decisions about what he wanted to do, announced that and stuck to it. That's surprisingly self-aware for a YouTube personality; you wouldn't think he had it in him.

Granted, he did decide to be the News of the Weird/Let's Rate Potato Chips Guy. But he decided that, after looking at all his options.
