I think that map is just the general area they live in, I really doubt they have guys patrolling their borders, creating skirmishes and acquiring more land lol.

The west coast of the US was settled by later European immigrants and had less aristocratic entrenchment. Even in the founding days of California as a US state, it was populated by bourgeois liberals. The culture of the west coast has pretty much always been like this.
Plus, the further west you go in the US, the more likely you're going to be traveling through the ruins of a failed utopian commune from days past. The midwest and onward is dotted with towns that are the descendants of this or that failed 19th century commune. In fact, the entire state of Utah was founded by the remnants of a particularly scrappy commune that didn't completely disintegrate into the caustic morass of civilization - the Mormons. The only part of the US that tends to not engage in this is the East Coast.

Is there a good reason why Jay Inslee hasn't done anything about these people? This just reeks of insurrection. I get that Seattle has a Karen mayor and a black lady police chief, so I can see why those two don't want to do anything. What I don't get is why the fucking governor is letting a group of activists declare their own country within one of America's largest cities. I know they're a bunch of LARPing hipsters and all that, but it still makes me MATI.

So far, it's borderline. They are LARPing pretty hard, but until you declare yourself in open rebellion to the US government, this isn't treason, just very stupid. Even their demands, while cripplingly retarded, remain lawful as they clearly acknowledge the power and sovereignty of the US government as being valid, albeit they demand it emasculate itself to please them, which is again stupid but not unlawful per se.
