But blocking streets in Washington D.C. is not the wisest move. At a minimum the Secret Service is going to have a few things to say about blocking travel routes.

Mayor Durkan, Chief Best say Seattle police need to return to East Precinct
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan says the Seattle Police Department needs to return to the East Precinct to be able to respond to calls from the community.
The mayor said SPD will return to the precinct, peacefully and in the near future.
“We have to make sure that any resident, any business, or any visitor that calls for help gets the help they need,” Durkan said.
Police Chief Carmen Best echoed that message in a news conference on Monday, saying that her officers need to get back to the East Precinct.
“I want to look to tomorrow, to next week, and to next year,” Best said. “We all know that policing is never going to be the same as it was … It can’t be. And it shouldn’t be.”
As for the CHOP, Durkan said it wouldn’t be wise for police officers to clear out the area. Instead, the city is working with community leaders to help reduce the number of people in the area and clean up the area.

It was all an optics game, this is her realizing that she lost and is now trying to shut it down before it makes her look even worse. The idea was probably to have Trump use federal powers to send in the NG and violently remove the rioters and they can run on the narrative of "EVIL DICTATOR DRUMPF!!!!". Trump chose to not act and just mock it on Twitter, and more importantly mock her for inaction. Now that they have two shootings in less than a 24 hours, nobody is going to buy her shtick about "peaceful protest".

My understanding is that "under federal jurisdiction" means specific agencies that Trump controls. Like a few weeks ago, when the Secret Service was guarding the White House but the Parks police were guarding the park near it. But DC does have a mayor, so I'm not sure who gets to make the call on kicking the assholes out.

It's not anywhere near to being over. It's going to be extremely difficult to get every last squatter out of that area, most people are not going out quietly, obviously. Also, that's incredibly optimistic of her to think the cops are going to come running when she calls. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them hate her guts and are waiting to see her fall.
While we're supposedly cleaning up, let's get rid of that useless cunt, Kshama Sawant. The Seattle councilwoman whose done nothing but egg on this whole fucking mess. She came up with the brilliant, totally going to happen idea of turning the E. precinct into a community center. She's also has no problem voicing her opinion on which city officials should be ousted next.
It would be nice to see the cops go in there and starting kicking everyone out and arresting anyone who refuses to comply (so everyone) and see the streets cleaned up and reopened to traffic and businesses. In the meantime, it's going to get very interesting.
