Thank you for the rare and nice sincere post. The protests in Seattle and elsewhere have been a total farce and coverage by national/local media has been one of my own biggest blackpills to date. I'm not going to dance on the graves of misguided young people that thought they were safe protesting given police protection/barriers. Even if they want to hurt/end the careers of the very people that provided them that protection. I genuinely think all protesters are trying to do what they think is moral and good, be them left or right.
Idiots and weirdos protesting for dumb shit is a longstanding tradition on the west coast. Some windows are broken downtown and life for normies carries on. But the tenor of these protests has been significantly different. Everyone with a functioning brain and access to twitter or twitch knows the reality on the ground is different than what's being presented publicly. Mayor Durkan made the cynical bet that by withdrawing police from CHAZ the situation would rapidly devolve and justify police reentering the area. That was correct, but at the cost of multiple shootings, multiple dead, chaos for uninvolved locals, and threats against local businesses like Car Tender. You can't say it was a shrewd deescalation tactic when the end result was that many dead bodies - just selling out your constituents within CHAZ to avoid the woke mob.
Anyway, don't feel bad that you're questioning things. This past 5 weeks has been really sad to watch for someone that enjoys the weirdness of a place like Seattle, but falsely believed most here had a good head on their shoulders about the performative aspect of protests. The real problem isn't the idiots in the streets but those in media/government that wrote glowing profiles of CHAZ or turned a blind eye and think you're dumb enough not to notice.
