Good Lord, is this the secret origin of Tomgirl? It's right at Chris's reading level too.

Who's going to read the book and report back?

I have it on hold at my library. I'll read it and report back. I wonder what the lady who gets my holds for me will think, as I usually check out stuff that's appropriate for my age and gender. This could be as awkward as when I heard about the book The Day my Butt went Psycho and borrowed it.

The description:

Mackey and her friends are the lovable, huggable, in and out of trouble Tomgirlz. Certainly not Girlie Girls, definitely not Tomboys, the Tomgirlz are smart, determined, strong and spirited. They care very much about how they look and their Tomgirlz fashions, but their passion is for sports, nature and life.

A tomgirl is a girl between a girlie girl and a tomboy. Makes sense.

CWC isn't lovable (well, he's for the wrong reasons; more like lulzable) and I certainly wouldn't want to hug him. Nor is he smart, determined, strong or spirited. He has no passion for sports, nature or life that I know of. He may not even care about his looks or tomgirl fashion anymore.

but give one of them a six figure income, and they'd be a perfect sweetheart for chris

I'm getting that book tomorrow from the library, because the word "tomgirl" is in the title. Boy, am I gonna feel weird checking out a book for little girls. Does CWC even have a library card?

I doubt it has anything to do with CWC from the description, because the girls are actually doing something with their lives.
