That is a perfectly valid way of putting it. But whether you are gay or straight, introverted or extraverted, etc. is "inside your head" as well. There is some pretty fundamental stuff about you that is "inside your head". If you want to distinguish between that and your X and Y chromosomes, there is no reason you shouldn't. But I don't think that should lead you to a complete dismissal of gender identity issues.

Though I think I'll keep believing what my professors on the biology courses thought me. But than again, in my language, sex and gender is the same word, and male/female is synonymous with man/woman, though the former is used to most animals, while the latter is exclusively for humans. I just think the US doctors are making things up for political reasons, and acting in an un-scientific manner.

I am a little mystified about the political reasons you are imagining? Doctors are making up gender identity issues to score political correctness points? And then people claim to have them because they are trying to provide cover for the doctors? Or are they led to imagine they have them because the doctors planted the idea in their heads? The doctors of course, would have to have planned this out when they hatched this conspiracy, otherwise there wouldn't have been any people with gender identity issues to demand political correctness from them.
