Whatever you do, if you get to the Bl'arms incident at GameStop, please don't let the discussion devolve into "Chris gunna go to jail an get RAEPD lolololol". That subject's become shaky ground in the discussion forums if you ask me.
 
Really, I think you should either go all-in and make the documentary two hours, or keep it the current length and take out some stuff, because right now the sagas are kind of rushed through. For example, right now in the documentary I don't even think it's clear why his house burned down. You'd need to first show some of the house tour video, then show some of "That is My House!," then show some of the news footage of his house burning down, in order to construct a cinematic narrative of how the hoarding contributed to 14 B.'s demise. Story is what you're going for. Otherwise people could just read the CWCki.

Careful bro, the second part in a trilogy is always the most polished and exciting. We'll have high expectations if you do end up throwing yourself into the shark tank once more. Are you sure it's a good idea? Be pragmatic here, that's all.

Edit: just watched your addendum where you chatted with your teacher about your project. I agree with his assumption that you'll be moving on to other projects. I think that that's how you grow as an artist, and you have a responsibility to grow. I'm overruled by my fellow kiwis here, so I won't think less of you if you do make a longer follow up, but I do think there's little that ultimately can be said, besides for going into specifics, which is unnecessary really. I would focus on editing what you have, as your teacher said, but no worries. I really enjoyed your doc when you first showed it to us, and I think you're a cool guy. Stay classy.

I'm gonna be speaking out of my ass for a second here. I honestly think instead of a sequel, there is enough material that I believe having a video series, like 10-20 minute videos, would work out better and you could cover a lot more material without having to cram it all into shorter segments. If you do however make one movie, I would suggest then you explore other facets of Chris other than the LoveQuest, which was the main focus of the first movie. Maybe stuff like "Chris the Entrepreneur," "Chris' Battle of the Sexes," (dealing with his hatred of homosexuals and then his transformation into Tomgirl) "Chris and His Wonderful Toys" (detailing Chris' destructive habit of having to constantly buy toys and vidya, with a running tally of how much money he's spent on it in the last 5 years), "Chris and the Law" .... stuff like that.

Also, I'm making sure I'm coming in at ground level on this one and offer any illustration services I can provide. I'm already doing stuff for DStecks who does Sonichu and bad movie reviews, so something like this would be in my wheelhouse.

You could always prepare it with the assumption that you won't get his interview (which you probably won't) and then if by chance you do you could put it in. Kind of reminds me of how Michael Moore lucked into an interview with Charlton Heston in Bowling for Columbine by buying a map to celebrities' houses and just showing up at the gate and being let in. (Was probably staged because Moore is a huge liar but you get the idea, I've seen it happen in real documentaries too.)

I really enjoyed watching your documentary and I wish you the best of luck on your next endeavor. Really looking forward to some non speculative progression into Chris' tomgirl phase.
 
My only real issue with your original documentary (I can't remember if I said this in the comments on YT) was that you presented some things that have already been debunked as fact, like the gal-pal denunciation. You also seemed to rush over the trolls a bit (you really didn't capture the scale of CC's role), which I can understand, time constraints and all that.

In short, as long as you have a laxer time budget this time, and pay a bit more attention to fact checking/presenting things from alternate viewpoints (I don't seem to remember you covering A-Logs, white knights or weens in great detail, if at all, hell, you could even go for nuances like anti and counter trolls if you so desire), it'll be pretty much perfect.

I think that the full version of "You Are My Sunshine" could be used for this in some way, seeing as how its so fucking dark and stalkery. Like, if it focuses more on his love quest.

First of all, excellent documentary!

Second, I know this has probably been repeated already, but I feel like for the sequel, you should elaborate more on each of the sagas since it seemed like you only provided a short summary of each of them. That's just my opinion.

I couldn't agree more with this list. I think that it's not bad that they weren't fit into the Original documentary, as it stood, it served as a great introductory to Chris, but I think that Chris' internal logics based on how he views the world is really fascinating, the doc did a good job of detailing the most funny one, the Love Quest, but I really think that Chris' relation to language, and his very, very literal interpretation of immaterial concepts, his relationship with religion and how he conveys it in Sonichu that's prime material.

You did very good job conveying the Chris trolling and following arcs spylobster, but I think that the "sequel" could do well with a little more inspection on how Chris' mind works, a Journey in to the Mouth of Madness, if you will.
 
My favourite part of the first Chris documentary was the interview you did with the special ed teacher, it was really interesting seeing him explain how he would have dealt with someone like Chris, and how they would have prepared him for independent life. I think additional viewpoints from experts in certain fields about factors of Chris' life would be fantastic: it could just be people you know, say if your uncle is a firefighter he may be able to comment on why Chris' house burned down, or if your friend's mom is a dietician she may be able to weigh in on Chris' health prospects in the future.

I'm not expecting you to try and convince Noam Chomsky to weigh in on Chris' political beliefs, but people you know (or people on these very forums who are willing to do skype interviews) could be a great and easy source of analysis, should you do a second documentary.
 
i think you should go a little more indepth with some sagas, if possible. im really excited for this!
 
In my opinion, Chris's high school and CWCville fantasies should be covered because they're such a HUGE part of his life. Chris has an unusual (and IMO unhealthy) nostalgia for his HS glory days and CWCville is the happy place he retreats to when life gives him "prickly wicklies".

The way Chris administers CWCville is very interesting as well and reveals a lot about his psyche. (Comparisons to N. Korea really aren't that far off the mark.) I don't know how in-depth you should go here though, since you're trying to maintain a neutral / impartial tone.

This is also subject matter that I think a lot of your viewers would consider interesting, especially from a psychological perspective.

Anyway, I really enjoyed your documentary and I thought you did a great job. Just my .02.
