Guys & gals, it doesn't matter if he sprayed mace, Axe perfume, chocolate milk, or yak piss. It's still assault, and if the dude he sprayed whatever at presses charges, he's going to jail.

Isn't it even assault with a weapon in this case? I'm not a lawyer but I imagine that if you're carrying around pepper spray, it's a very specific usage.

Again, I'm not a lawyer, but I have no idea how he'd get out of this one if the guy presses charges. It's not like it's self defense, he just sprayed some random clerk. It's not like he's a first time offender, he's gone to court before and had to do community service. Maybe some sort of insanity defense? I've heard it's really hard to pull off though, from my understanding. I don't think there's precedent for autism getting someone off the hook for something serious - I heard about an autistic guy in NYC who was so obsessed with trains he'd break into parts of the subway and commuter rails for employees so he could do stuff and he's gone to jail for it. The judge said he still had ability to control his urges so insanity didn't really apply.

The issue with someone giving Fatty a good gob-smack is that the law would side against him. Though he undoubtably deserves a good drubbing I wouldn't recommend it.

Let the Jerkcops deal with him.
That's probably the best way to handle it. And no one wants to hold the dubious distinction of assaulting a 'tard, no matter what he's done.

I'm literally writhing here, trying not to say anything too A-loggish...

Well, 2014 has certainly been interesting for Chris, hasn't it? It started with him setting fire to his own house and caused a massive swelling from many to try and help the poor guy out. You would think such a traumatizing event would have some kind of effect on a person. Maybe a heightened sense of humility or thankfulness for what he already has...

And here we are, watching him strut around in Chris clown costume 2.0, complete with sunglasses intended for a 6-year old girl, trying to vandalize store property in a place he's already been banned from, all the while evading the law and assaulting employees with pepper spray.

...I gotta say, it really takes talent for a person burned out of house and home to lose nearly all of their pity points in such a short amount of time.

I knew it was mace. Mace sprays can come in the form of small seemingly innocuous looking containers.

Like others have pretty much said, Chris doesn't really care about the health issues involved with mace, just his stupid little crusade against the blue arms of an anthropomorphic hedgehog character primarily marketed to children.

The text in the tumblr post says:
"So I ran into someone today while I was waiting for my sister…he was trying to ruin the Sonic Boom games display and had mace and sprayed some random dude when they said he was banned and started calling security…

Tagged: #chris chan, #chris-chan, #christian weston chandler, #sonichu"

Considering that info, the store employees (or at least one, anyway) were aware of him and his ban, and the tags indicate that the poster knew of him as well.
Good catch-- I didn't notice that. The guy who posted the video certainly did know who Chris was.

Still, the language of the post is ambiguous. It could be that the employees recognized Chris right away and that the instant he set foot in the door, they told him he was violating an existing ban. It could also be that they didn't recognize him (due to employee turnover), they left him alone, and only when he started screwing with the Sonic Boom boxes did they ban him, at which time the video starts and Chris walks out of the store and sprays the employee.

I'm being a stickler about this because I'm trying to figure out which charges Chris is risking. Is it assault, or is it assault and trespassing? (And, heck, that's not even counting his ban from Fashion Square Mall itself, which must still be in place, or else he wouldn't have bothered writing an apology letter.)

I don't know if the ween stuff that we got from people calling the GameStop is reliable. I mean, it's entirely possible that Chris sprayed the guy with pepper spray, but would they tell a random stranger that? I could believe it, but I'm skeptical. Regardless, even if it was perfume, it still was assault and Chris violated his probation. The employee should press charges.

If I got pepper sprayed just doing my job, I'd probably press charges. Just sayin'.

I think this is going to end soon. It's like he's begging to go back to jail. He's lost what little bit of mind he had left.
Maybe he's trying to get back into jail so he can demand to be sent to the women's section. Also dat indignant attitude. Cwc has become Barb.

EDIT: Oh my god you guys I was kidding.

If I'm arguing with someone and poke them in the chest, that's assault. Any violation of someone's personal space qualifies as legal assault.

Unequivocally, Chris has committed assault in the legal sense.

That's why I want to guy to press charges. This could easily translate into a felony and, in light of his last run-in with the law, might serve to get his stupid fucking ass incarcerated. Honestly, if the guy goes and does it there will be a chain reaction of epic proportions for Chris.

Then again, I could be wrong and he'll somehow slide along withe his precious autism card.

It's amazing how he hasn't been arrested yet, or at least gotten his ads kicked. Nobody else could get away with that crap

Insanity defense is incredibly rare--much more so than most people realize--and without expounding too much on the subject, people who were objectively much, much more ill than Chris have been denied NGRI pleas. I don't know which standard Virginia uses to determine insanity (there's several variations) but I'm pretty sure this little stunt of Chris' doesn't fall under any of them.

The bit I'm looking forward to most, as others have said, is seeing how Chris tries to spin this.
Normally with things like this we hear his story first and the truth comes out afterwards. This is a rare case of us seeing the real thing first and still waiting to see the spin/lie. I'm curious whether he'll embellish it or whether it'll be like the house tour videos where he lied about how much housework he did with the hope that the person he was talking to hadn't seen the evidence yet.
This may be unlikely, and I mean very unlikely, but I think that after all the confrontations he's been in with the police and security he just may of wised up a bit and realized that posting anything about him having an encounter with any sort of law enforcement agency would make him look bad. That may be why he's refrained from making any sort of fb post about it.

Although that doesn't explain why he wouldn't make a post about how he "defeated" those evil, blue-arm supporting manajerks at gamestop.

I'd think that vandalism and/or destruction of property would figure in there somewhere.

I'm surprised the store was willing to give any information out. I've had various altercations in shops I've worked at over the years and once the police are brought in, we're not allowed to disclose anything to customers/anyone else who may be interested

The one @ Fashion Square Mall was pretty tight-lipped, but one of the nearby Gamestops (Chris is notorious to all the Gamestops there) was called and the employee there already knew what happened & was simply asked basic questions like "Is the guy who got sprayed OK?" and "Were the cops called?". When my friend called the FSM Gamestop, the manager there at first tried to deny anything had happened, and then after being told that one of the local Gamestops mentioned that it happened there, all he would do was verify the stuff I passed on and said "refer any other questions to the Charlottesville Police Department" and hung up.

MY own personal conclusions: Chris was visited by the cops because of this, but wont likely go to jail (unless he throws another fit like he did during his Halloween Adventure). At most he might get a citation and a fine to pay, and be told in no uncertain terms to stay the f*ck out of any Gamestop store on Earth. If Chris is smart, he'll stay awa......oh who the Hell am I kidding?
