The real tragedy here is this makes NES style Mario levels and not Genesis/Master System style Sonic levels.

Chris has probably had this thought over and over since getting Mario Maker. It's like Nintendo's personally trolling him by including a Sonic sprite to play as, dangling that carrot of being a Sonic game designer in front of him. Sadly Chris spends so much of his life fantasizing about what he'd like, and when something comes close to realizing it, all Chris can see is what they didn't do. A Sonic Level Maker game would disappoint Baby Chrissy because they didn't include Pikachu costume pieces for the "create a recolor" Sonic.

The game is awesome if you like 2d mario games and if the idea of making your own levels sounds fun to you. Nothing is cooler than starting up the game and getting a notification that while I was sleeping 5 people played a map that I made. But don't get it just to play Chris' levels
I suppose if I had a WiiU, I'd probably try it too.

Pretty much what I thought.

1- So is this better or worse than most levels? Cause shit looks like any other 2009 fan mod.

2- Holy shit you can fly a cloud. That is surprisingly dope to me.

Not only can you uses the cloud but you can uses Bowser Clown Car too and SMB3, SMW and NSMB style level came with their own flying power up as well (raccoon leaf, cape feather and propeller hat). Someone created a pretty good shoot 'em up level in Mario maker, think r-type meet mario.

This is only tangentially related to Chris's levels, but I'd love to see Chris play some of Ross's amazingly evil levels...

Slightly off topic but looking for some info please:

Does Mario Maker come with a playable 2D platformer by Nintendo or can you only play the levels designed by you and others who bought the game? The Wii U is the only Nintendo console I don't have and Mario Maker looks like good fun.

There are Sonic / Genesis level editors. And if you really really wanted to do it, you could get them to run on a console. It would just take a lot of dedication, patience and several other qualities that make it impossible for Chris.

How many 14-year-old boys do you think saw the Christine Mii, played the levels, and then started sucking up and chatting with Chris thinking he was a cute nerd girl?

That was Chris? SHIT!

There are 64 levels created by Nintendo, but they are mostly brief things meant to show off what one can do with the creation tools. Creators are ranked, so it's not hard finding something worth playing. I'm just glad the Wii U has a small install base, lest the weens vote Chris up into the top ten.

Am I the only one who thinks the biggest problem with A Sonic Spinball is that it's an underwater level? When did Sonic learn to swim?
I'm guessing that Chris's logic is that since Sonic is in his ball form when he swims in Mario Maker, that makes it a spinball level. If you play enough Mario Maker, you start to gain insight on what the creators were trying to accomplish with their levels, even the shitty ones.

The Autism soaked idea of "I just bought Super Mario Maker! Time to make Sonic levels!" is bad enough on its own. Game designers spend so much time designing their vision of a fun game, and Chris usually re-interprets it to glorify Sonichu, or himself.
