He'd like to go out to bars, but even if he did he'd have a single beer and play his DS. Barb won't let him go out though.

In wider answer to the question, he's never had a problem with potential alcoholism. I don't think he's ever given serious consideration to drinking for drinking's sake.

In your opinion Alec, do you believe this is due to any particularly moral convictions? Or just inherited from Borb?

Chris has shown some surprisingly strong moral opinions on drink, drugs and tobacco. And to be totally honest, I feel that's a good thing about him.

it was probably pounded into his head during d.a.r.e. in elementary school. scare tactics usually work on the feeble minded

Honestly, I think the main reason he's not at risk for alcoholism or drug abuse is because his interests are so limited, and recreational intoxicants aren't one of them.

He has professed an anti-alcohol/drug attitude, sure, and that at least was probably because of what DARE spoonfed him in school or whatever. But as we know, talk is incredibly cheap for Chris, he rarely puts his money where his mouth is. He's had no problem trying alcohol when the opportunity came up. He just doesn't seem to care about pursuing it. Which is indeed a happy accident, because the last thing C-ville needs is an alcoholic Chris driving on the sidewalk mowing down mailboxes, and demanding to be let off the hook because "I was drunk and didn't mean to do it".

So where is Chris allowed to go to these days? Just McDonalds?
Other places where you can get junk food or fast food. But it's not really where he's allowed to go, but more about how long he's out.
So that means places like Sheetz, Wawa, Food Lion, Kroger and Wal-Mart delis, Taco Bell, Sonic Drive-In, Baskin-Robbins, Popeyes and KFC. No wonder he evolved into a Snorlax where Barb devolved into a Munchlax.

Yeah, that's probably it. His ability to pick and choose his convictions on a whim is well documented. The very thought of an inebriated Chris in a vehicle is fucking terrifying. He's bad enough when he's sober!

But I guess part of me feels it's uncharitable to pick apart and dismiss any good traits we find in him.

If Chris is an alcoholic, then I must be typing this from the grave. :pickle:
Chris doesn't really understand the concept of drinking as a pleasurable experience. The ultimate experiment would be getting Chris completely intoxicated and seeing what he says/does in moments of drunken sincerity. There have been people in my life who I can only tolerate when they're drunk and there are people who I love who become absolute assholes. I would love to see the kind of person drunkard Chris is, but I don't think the world is ready for that.

That was painful to sit through.

How much would it take to get him drunk? With all that fat, he'd have a ways to go before he begins feeling the effect (which is why his "bottle of Bud" doesn't hold up as an excuse for 6 June 2010).

Get him a bottle of 99 Bananas, you'll get guaranteed fast results.

Very unpleasant.

See this just makes me fucking angry! Not only did Borb do an awful job of raising their autistic son, they denied him help when others tried to step in, then planted the idea in his mind that these people were evil for doing so. And the whole theory about them paying people off to prevent the house getting sold? Where the holy fuck did that come from?

At least Chris has an excuse for his often bizarre behaviour (to a point) but Bob and Barb? They represent the very worst in uneducated, moronic, stubborn, selfish, paranoid redneck genes the south has to offer.

I found that video genuinely upsetting. Not necessarily for the words spoken in it (it's still Chris being Chris) But for what it represents. Go back a couple of decades to a young child being taken away from his friends because his parents are too fucking stupid and selfish to do what's right for him.

What a pair of cunts.

It's pretty sad for me to say this, but, what friends?

Well, weigh that against his relative inexperience with alcohol and the psychological aspect of drunkenness. When I first started drinking, three beers in a night at a modest rate of one an hour was enough to turn me schlocked, but wouldn't make me slur a single word now, even though I weigh the same now as then.

Of course, you're right that his claim of getting drunk off one bottle of budweiser is still ridiculous. I think if Chris ever gets "drunk", it's really just him deciding that it's okay to do whatever reckless thing he wants to do because having a beer makes it okay.

One of the first things he says in the video is how many friends he had there. Granted, there's probably a fair amount of Chris-style exaggeration there, but it's fairly safe to assume that he did have a few.

Children can be cruel, by they're also less judgemental than adults.

If Chris ever gets drunk in public, there's a very good chance it will be his last night as a free man(child).

I hope he'll have good memories of it before the jerkops take him away.
