This will probably be granted, but I'm wondering: Does a court just allow exceptional individuals to change their names legally?

Moreover, why has Chris never tried to change his name to Sonichu before?
Because his is not sonichu
Even in his fantasy world he was Chris chan
Sonichu is a real person, and changing his name to sonichu would hurt his true and honest friend

I'm still calling him Chris.
Eh, Chris can be short for "Christine" anyway. I'm still calling him "him," though.

I wonder if "Christian" will get the quotation treatment when he writes out his name, like "Christopher" sometimes does.

Yes. See Philip Vincent Haskins-Delici Ahuviya Rotem Harel Ahuviya Harel Araujo Isabel Rosa Araujo. And Chris himself; this is his second name change.

Remember Chris wasn't always Christian; he was Christopher.

But yes, the court will let almost anyone who is their own guardian (and in their own capacity capable of changing their name) change their name to almost anything they want. There's literally a guy who changed his name from Bill to "Iam Cheese Whizz" and another guy went from Chad to "Boner Tastic". I'm sure a man wanting to go by Christine is perfectly fine in the court's eyes.

Geoff Ramsey of Rooster Teeth fame discovered that it costs exactly the same to change your last name as it is to change your whole name, so in the process of becoming "Geoff Ramsey" he changed his middle name, legally, to "Lazer."

Now someone just needs to point out to Chris that the Sonichu copyright is held by a Christian Weston Chandler, who no longer exists.
