Video Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2013

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

this is really stretching the term "living situation". we can only hope this is his "Hoarders" submission video.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Manna, sweet manna from above.

So what is Chris trying to prove here, and to whom?

Dear God, it's a repeat of the first house tour: "That's blocked and that's blocked and that's blocked..."

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

I can hear screams and cries of sorrow coming from the hoard. :(

Also, "the resident Evil Refrigerator."

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

This is so much worse than I thought.

I was almost hoping that what we joked about as a "hoard" was just a really messy house, but nope, this is definitely a hoarding situation.

I wonder why he did this? Who did he think would see it?

Also, yay, Scampers is alive.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

1- Thanks Alec! Asperchu may be gone but you keep delivering!
2- For those that can't watch it (aka me at work) any chance we can get some highlights?

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

The yard looks almost like unspoiled wilderness. Bob was the only one who ever seemed concerned about lawn and plant care, and with him gone nature is taking back what was originally theirs with no struggle whatsoever.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

I can only assume that this was done at the request of a potential future girlfriend. That said, there is a part of me that wonders if Chris actually WANTS us to find this. Is this a desperate cry for help? Has Chris picked up on how upsetting his squalor is to normies? Is he hoping that someone will have the place condemned so he can move somewhere better?

I REALLY REALLY DOUBT IT, but honestly, the possibility is striking. Chris took almost a sense of pride in his room being clean, and almost a sense of shame in the rest of the house being trash. Impressing a girl, or genuine disgust at his surroundings?

I'm not sure what to make of the shower comments. It's almost like he thinks he won a victory over the trolls by NOT finishing the job. Yeah, Chris... you show them. Bathe in mildew all your life to prove a point.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Is it me or his diction a bit less bizarre sounding? He doesn't sound nearly as high pitched as usual, and I don't hear much stuttering or many false starts. Although I guess he's not really trying for proper sentences in this commentary.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

I have a few thoughts on this.

I know a woman who is a pretty bad hoarder, too. Chris wins by a small margin because they can walk through the house, the woman I know originally had you climb over a desk that was right in front of the door to get to the kitchen and stairs area. It's since been moved for easier access, but it's that bad. This is typical hoarder behavior, for those who might wonder about the garbage and seemingly useless/disgusting things. This is what they save on top of everything else.

This almost makes me wish Chris wouldn't shut down help, because I'm sure there are a ton of potential Chirstorians nearby who would honest to god help him. Mostly just to say they've been inside Casa de Chandler, but if they ended up helping clean up instead of :julay: it would be worthwhile. But it's not just a case of Chris shutting down help from everybody who he thinks is a troll, but Barb's mental health as well. Hoarders, even when they try to clean up, still hesitate and sometimes change their minds and never want to throw anything away. Again, the woman I know has done this multiple times even when she's asked for help.

Everyone also knew about the Barb and Chris share situation, but here's another example right at the start where he says that was where he and his mother stay. It looks like his room has gotten a bit worse, too. Which isn't saying much.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

So, we know that Scamper is still alive, but not looking the greatest. Probably left outside 90% of the time.

That staircase looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Half of the rooms, at least, are either inaccessible, or only partially functional.

The fridge is probably full of rotting q-sands.

And all this video is missing is the dramatic music from hoarders. Someone should edit this video and add the music in.

Seriously, how long can the county ignore this? This is me being genuinely concerned. :|

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Look has much trouble he has moving even short distances in that mess. Even the stairs are packed with hoardables.

I wonder where Barb is during all of this.

I can only assume that this was done at the request of a potential future girlfriend. That said, there is a part of me that wonders if Chris actually WANTS us to find this. "Let me tell you something! If the health department of green county sees that tape, that you put on the damn internet, they could condemn our house? And we would have to move out of it?"

It does make a sort of twisted sense. If I was Chris I wouldn't want to live there any longer, and his infallible father already said once that such a video could cause that very thing to happen.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

I'm actually surprised he would ever make another one of these videos. Judging by the outdoor segment, I assume this was filmed a few months ago. Curious as to he would be sending it to. My gut instinct makes me want to believe maybe this was sent to one of his former high school gal-pals to ring up pity points. Notice how he is explicitly downplaying his living situation.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

I wonder if Chris even realizes what he's doing to his inheritance? Barb probably doesn't have much to leave Chris apart from the house and she is destroying it with no regard whatsoever. Chris will probably have to sell it once Bard dies but due to it state it'll be unsellable. He'll have to sell the land plot for next to nothing and then he'll have absolutely nothing.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Yikes, this is reminiscent of Grey Gardens. Where does he have the space to build his legos? How does he transport the finished stuff around the house?

The house has decayed exponentially since that first video way back when. Clutter's taken over, the only operational bathroom is coated in mildew and filth, at least one of the cats is still alive, and Chris's room is not only the most orderly but appears unchanged. It's a shitshow.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Bah, you can still move around in that place. This was the kitchen of a hoader house I crashed at for a few weeks:

Chris and Barb need to go thing by thing and say "Can we sell this? Is this useful?" and if it doesn't go into either of those catagories, pitch it into a big ass dumpster. Who knows how much extra cash stupid shit around the house could be sold online for. Fuck, in the above picture I found a Sega Genesis and Sonic in the first ten minutes of digging through that mound.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

If it's that difficult for Chris to effectively move through the house, I can't imagine how it could be for Barb. Risks for falls are huge in situations like this. Considering her age, health, and well, the hoard, I can't help foresee a fall and serious injury happening.

Other than that, I am at a loss for words. If Chris possibly knew a safe source to reach out to, he likely could get help with the situation he is in. This video shows that the household, if given the chance to get cleaned up, could be salvageable enough to live in.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

My guess is that this is going to eventually be posted on Facebook in an attempt to get more pity.

Re: Chris is not too proud of the state of the house 12/11/2

Compared to everything else this is a really minor note, but the picture quality for this video is far better anything we've ever seen. This tells me it's probably taken with one of his new iPhones instead of something like the PSEye or whatever he used the first house tour. We have a thread somewhere about color correcting his videos, but this one is distinctly lacking the piss-stain hue.

To be honest im more worried about the fire risk. Just take a look at this image for example

There is literally Brobdingnagian ammount of clutter and flamable shit compacted around the house and in the hallways/stairs. Setting aside how fast a fire would spread, it would be impossible for chris and barb to get out given how much difficulty chris had in navigating the cramped hallways. Plus all that clutter is almost certainly in close proximity to live power outlets/sockets and all it will take is a few sparks from faulty wiring to start a literal inferno.

Not to mention the state of the kitchen.

With shit like that they almost certainly have servere vermin infestation and some pretty nasty pathogens brewing up in that pile, especially if Chris himself compares it to a biohazard.
