I honestly and truly don't mind Zapdos in this drawing.. maybe I'm biased because I love Zapdos? (granted, the other ways he drew Zapdos were... hilarious.)

It's an amazing picture. The fucked up perspective is immediately obvious, yet the longer you look at it the more you realise how wrong it is. It's a rare example of fractally wrong perspective. Are those doors for hobbits? Are they even doors or is Sonichu lying face down on a floor that has a wall and doors painted on it? Is Sonichu standing in some kind of trench or is some kind of strong gravitational force warping the floor? If the doors are the right size, then is Naitcirch a giant? Is the whole thing on a slope or is that water flowing upwards? Chris forces us to ask these questions and many more.

Should've used a ruler!
Chris doesn't need a ruler, he is the ruler.
I love that sloppy drawing he did of Cwcville, just because of the last line. If anyone else drew that and bragged about how accurate their measurements were I'd assume they were being sarcastic or ironic.

I love how he combines his lack of creativity (14 brunchville lane) with his ego-insertion (cwcville having his birthday for a zipcode), his lack of skill and his refusal to put effort into anything he does.

Also speaking of that zipcode: did it already have that when Bob founded Cwcville (ie: before Chris was born)?

Edit:

And least we forget:
The enemy here is the 'evil twin' of Christian, who's between KB-Toys (which went out of business) and Gamestop (which banned Christian).

Semi off-topic:

All this talk about the CADD degree made me curious about what would job expectations for someone with such a degree be. For what I've gathered myself, it's kind of a poor man's version of digital graphic design and should allow you to do works like simple graphics for small clients or employers with not much budget (posters, signs, calling cards... nothing too fancy) and assisting more prepared professionals like engineers or architects with their drawings, while not having the creativity or artistic sensibility of an actual architect or designer. Can someone confirm or complement this?

The whole fact that he chose a mall for his final work is very telling for me. While any self-respecting architect would see your typical, overly repeated archetipe of shopping mall like something negative, and would avoid such a work like the pleague, he seems to look at them as if they were the best thing ever. This says a lot about what being enclosed in his little bubble, where the local mall seems to be one of the few interesting places to go, and learning so little about other places has done to his perception of the world.

End semi off-topic.

The whole picture itself COULD work if it was better done...

Oh, it certainly does!

Now if only that mall had a MusicLand (or a Camelot Music), I'd be in heaven!

I do wonder what sort of job would be in the Charlottesville area, assuming there's an architectural firm that wouldn't mind him designing strip plazas and such? I wondered if he'd be better off in graphic design or commercial art?

At least he wasn't into "lifestyle centers".

Oh, it certainly does!

I still like my disturbing take!

They most certainly wouldn't let him design anything. That's the architect's work. He would do minor, support task such as fix some plans, draw the layout of a bathroom, put together a sheet or give the final touches to a render.

But I think that if he ever got the necessary guidance he would be more into the graphic/visual side of the things.

I think he meant that cavemen were so stupid they'd actually need to be told twice to run. That's based on the expanded version of the joke from the videobook though. The original was completely incomprehensible.

"You don’t have to tell me twice! But during the Stone Age? Boy you really needed to tell those cavemen twice. Heh heh heh heh! Run from the dinosaur!"

His commentary definitely has the line making less sense, but I'm not completely convinced he's really expanding on the joke so much as just trying to make a goofy joke, causing further ambiguity. I doubt even Chris himself knows what he meant by it, just wanted to throw my take on it out there. Of course I could be completely wrong.

I'd been privately assuming that he had hand-written something, then squinted incomprehensibly at it when updating to Comic Sans format. Stumped as to what it meant, he decides to type it anyhow and hopefully the fans, too, would understand what this joke was. Given that he refuses to fix errors while editing the comic to typed format, this theory made more sense to me than the joke as interpreted.

If I had confirmation that Bob was prone to this quip, or that Chris-chan had spotted it on television, I'd be so relieved.

He certainly could've saved himself a lot more trouble had he only wrote "You don't have to tell me twice." and nothing more.

I went out on a couple dates last year with a girl who was doing CADD. I asked her a bunch of questions about for Christorical purposes. It seems that the best analogy it is to architect what paralegal is to lawyer. With a CADD certification you can do architectural work below a certain size, or contribute to a larger project and have a certified architect sign off on your work.

It made me see why Bob thought it would be a good choice of major for Chris. A lot more practical than a community college degree in "marketing", which is unlikely to lead anywhere unless you use it to transefer to a four-year college.

Unfortunately, it's not the sort of thing someone would hire Chris to do. But not much is.

Figures (reminded of all the analog-type art courses I took in high school that amounted to nothing in today's digital world). I noticed one community college near me is offering an associate degree in Graphic Design. I don't suppose that would fit Chris either, he never seemed like the college type to start with (let alone vocational).

Hmmm, tough call, since generally speaking, whenever I see any of his art, I either burst out laughing, or want to pluck my eyes out.

If anything, probably the stuff he made at college. You know, when he was actually held to some kind of artistic standard. Everything he's produced since looks like crap, not because he's bad at drawing per se, but because he's too lazy and stubborn to change his technique. His work would look much less abysmal if he bothered even just using a ruler, and became better with concepts like proportion.

I somehow completely missed this one. What's the story?

Some fella paid for a commission from Chris, and wanted it to be based on wrestler Rob Van Dam while having"that Sonichu spin"

The only description Chris gave for the art was this:
"The story I came up for it is chibi Ron is the son; he gets picked on at school. "Wah! Wah! The kids bullyme! I want to go to a theme park and laugh at the freak clowns there. Wah! Wah!" Papa Rob and his honey are being abused like as they were "Mr. Money in the Bank"; what trouble for the parents."

That's completely insane, even for Chris. It makes me wish he would actually produce more original work beyond Sonichu. It's a stretch to say it was holding him back, but the album cover and this bizarre collage seem to almost hint at the fact he has something interesting to say.

Maybe he needs to take a local art course to see if more of that can come out.
