Lovequest Chris Thinks Trolls Are Hacking His Text Messages

If you're on this forum you're a troll, and if you're a troll you can only be a deceitful sadist who hates him and exists only to ruin his life.

Simply not kissing Chris' ass 24/7 or even simply being a male automatically gets you labeled "TROLL!" by Chris. I bet he even thinks that the shovelmech operator was a troll sent to get close to the house and frame Chris for burning it down.

On Friday I posted this message in another thread.

A major issue is that Chris' powers of self delusion are fairly epic. If he doesn't understand something he won't.

Suppose the character who is playing Catie confesses to him she is a troll. The next day someone else contacts Chris from Catie@notatroll.com and says that she was hacked or had her phone stolen by someone who then lied to Chris. Would Chris believe the new person? It's not out of the realm of possibility.

It's just not as simple as contacting Chris and saying, "Hey, your "friends" a b and c are trolls. I know because I am one of them." That may not be sufficient for him to clue in.

After thinking about it, I have a little more sympathy for him about this than I would have expected. He is constantly bombarded by fake people and lies. People are constantly telling him "this is TRUE and HONEST". To a simple mind like Chris', a troll confessing could easily just seem like another possibly true, possibly untrue statement that contradicts other possibly true, possibly untrue statements. He doesn't know what to believe, so he just believes what he wants.

It's kind of like what would happened if some real prince one day actually wanted your help getting his millions out of Nigeria. Or like the Boy who Cried Wolf story.

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself.

why should we try to make chris face any sort of reality at this point.

the difference between people who care and the thought of having people care is irrelevant to him. let him have his thoughts. they're harmless and provide a small amount of refuge for him. :anna:

"I will not fall for the trolls' tricks and cons ever again!"

See, he probably means starting now, so he'll continue to be tricked by things by which he was already tricked, but he won't believe anything from the trolls ever again. Unfortunately, in this case the trolls are telling him the truth. Such a classic comedy of errors! :)

Chris's autistic mind has already ossified the idea "Renee is real," and therefore anyone who tells him "Renee is fake" must be lying, and lying is what trolls do, therefore anyone who tells him "Renee was never real" must be a troll. Going over the circumstances of his acquaintanceship with Renee and putting it into the context of how all of his past online gal-pals were outed as trolls would be too complicated, so everything that he thinks he knows right now is what he will continue to believe forever.

I get the feeling I wouldn't be wrong if I said that even if Thetan replied directly back to Chris and confessed, he'd just think it was the trolls no matter what because that's what fits into his version of events. His mind is closed on the matter. Not even trying to use a CWCism there, that's just the best way of putting it.

As it has been mentioned in other threads, Chris is his own best troll. I'm still fascinated when I watch him earn gold in mental gymnastics.

I don't think there's much else to do except sit back and enjoy the show.

I dunno, @Absinthe . I think THIS is the perfect Chris Discussion thread. That text is the embodiment of all that is Chris, distilled into a handy .jpeg.

EDIT: .png, sorry. Also, the "breaking the fourth wall" thing cracks me up. I guess he IS addressing his "audience. . ."

Chris doesn't get what he wants, he gets what he deserves. He doesn't deserve Gal Pals, he disrespects them. He deserves trolls. He deserves us.

There is a cycle that repeats whenever Chris gets lonesome. He tries to reach out for social interaction online, he gets it from someone who wants to troll him, followed by Chris enlisting pity to get more of what he wants, which causes the troll to feel guilt and seek redemption by confessing or quitting. Chris always loses, and Christorians always win.

It's getting to the point where he'll pick out individual snippets of conversations and decide those parts are troll words. If he texts Catie and she says "I like apples", Chris will assume it's true that Catie likes apples, but if her very next sentence is "please stop texting me, we're not in a relationship", he'll assume that sentence alone is false.

What if "Renee" was sharing the texts to her male friends? Why does he think that we always do the most difficult tasks like hacking to his texts just to see what he says?

You would think he'd be happier overall because he makes his reality fit his beliefs so well. Renee's texts leaking fits so well into his thinking that anything he doesn't like is automatically discarded as trolling even though NOTHING has been said to him in weeks. And even that's explainable because TROLLS.

Rereading the Megan and Wallflower emails at the end is pretty telling of what you need to do to get rid of Chris. Although I imagine at SOME POINT he will actually notice that "Renee" never responds. I'm willing to wager the logic will be, ":ween: hacked her and she no longer has access to this account, I'd better search or reach out to her in some other way to let her know I still :heart-full: her!".

The only unknown is how long this whole scenario will play out for.

A little of both with a lot of desperation thrown in. The poor guy is so desperate for human contact, he's coming up with ridiculous fantasy scenarios to hold on to whatever "friends" he has. It's really kind of sad.
I think the saddest thing about Chris is that he chooses to live in misery and isolation. The best thing he could do now would be to go back to school and actually major in something he knows he could get a job in, not to mention he would actually be putting himself in a social situation and he might even make some new friends out of it. Of course, Chris being Chris I'm sure he would do something fucking stupid and get himself kicked out of school again for posting personal ads all over campus so he could find a 32 year old non-alcoholic, non-smoking lesbian he could turn into a sweetheart from the ground up.
