A 9-5 job would just likely drain him of any energy to do things, and less time/opportunities to interact with us or do things that interests us. Whatever job he'd go do, he wouldn't probably be very good at it, and as of now, he's getting paid to do stuff that he liked doing for a hobby PLUS his Tugboat.Anything, including a job
Don't get me wrong, for our sake this is better than him having a job, and for his sake, too. When I said having a job would be better than doing nothing, I was speaking in context of his hesitancy at the time to do things like writing comics.A 9-5 job would just likely drain him of any energy to do things, and less time/opportunities to interact with us.
I'm not saying Chris can't make money. I'm saying that if he starts making money and gets the attention of Nintendo and whoever own Pokemon, I don't think they're going to be nice about reclaiming their respective copyrights. There's something about copyrights etc that just brings out the autism in people here. They go all Moleman. "Chris can't make any money off Sonichu! It's the law!"
I love it![]()
Sega would have to send death squads to every anime convention in America.Well, one reason to think they might ever go after him is because copyright laws are kind of finicky in America. A lot of the time, companies are basically compelled to defend their property at every little step, because if they let one thing go, a court might later say "you didn't defend it that one time? Guess you don't really care, we're not going to shut down the guy who is seriously stealing your stuff this time either".
Not saying it's likely, but it might be a factor.
This is true, and there have been similar cases in the past where a company has engaged in seemingly heavy-handed legal action over unauthorised but basically harmless use of their characters. But the Internet rather complicates things - there are so many fan works, parodies and rip-offs that it's pretty much impossible to snap all of them up. I'm no legal expert, particularly when it comes to American law, but there would appear to be a number of factors in Chris' favour:Well, one reason to think they might ever go after him is because copyright laws are kind of finicky in America. No. Did my use of female pronouns trigger you?Does your body release endorphins every time you use a female pronoun?
Freudian slip there, methinks.I could easily edit Sonics to be punishable by a major house in about two hours.

Auto correct on the phone, but I like your reason better.Freudian slip there, methinks.
