Hey ho, what do you know? Set in New York and starring Robert Deniro I remembered it as a Scorsese movie. Well I guess that's even fewer of Scorsese movies I've enjoyed! Cheers!
You should check out Martin Scorcese's Copland (1997). He breaks away from the criminals to focus on the other side of the equation: the cops, and breaks away from NYC across the river to New Jersey. It has Scorcese stalwarts DeNiro and Harvey Keitel in it, but mostly features Sylvester Stallone in a rare dramatic turn, and Scorcese really pulls out one of the best performances of his career from the big guy.

I'll take some convincing as I've never yet rated a Scorcese movie higher than a 5 but I'll make a mental note and if it comes around I'll give it a chance.

I gave Nolan some slack because he's one of the few guys left under 70 who hates CG as much as I do, but that trashcan bomb in Oppenheimer was inexcusable and I hope he thinks about that every day for the rest of his life.

I'll be sure to do that when I crossover into your timeline. In mine, it was directed by James Mangold.

This is a hard thread to respond to because I actually like all of Nolan's works in varying degrees, even Tenet and Oppenheimer (even though I like them the least of his filmography) because I compare it to the rest of Hollywood, which ranges mostly from mediocre to pure shit. Like was said before, The Dark Knight Trilogy is better than Marvel capeshit and the DC shit of the 2000s and 2010s.

Favorite movie from him? Memento, hands down. The Prestige is kinda second.

I'd rather have him continue his film career. He kinda earned it. I can't hate him much for that.
I didn't care for Tenet. It's funny to see people make schizo charts and graphs about it like it's deep or something though.
It is deep, but it's ridiculous to go that deep. It's even constantly said in the film "don't try to understand it; feet it". It merely touched on scientific concepts and abandons them for action and plot progression.

That was James Mangold, not Scorsese.

Although Raging Bull was cool. And Gangs of New York. The Wolf of Wall Street has a ton of memes.

I tried watching the Dark Knight but that gay ass opening and the awful dialogue made me turn it off.

Lyle from OneyPlays made a really good point about that movie only working because the villain is nonsensical by design. Nolan's movies are only smart if you don't really think about them too closely and he consistently makes up arbitrary rules just to break them later on. Nolan makes "smart movies for dumb people". The Joker is just a weirdo whose inconsistencies can be written off as part of his character and that's why it's one of Nolan's best films because the plotholes are less apparent. Also fuck whoever does his audio-mixing.

Maybe Elliot Page can play the cyclopes?

Holy shit that's a mediocre to bad cast, If Matt Damon and Robert Pattinson is your two best actor you know your fucked.

I have never watched a film with Zandaya And Tom Holland in my life and I want things to stay like that.

In a way, I congratulate Dolan to make it easier than ever to ignore his giga slop with tranny and nigger Greeks.

His Odyssey film is gonna be fucking funny when you consider how tired people are of today's cultural climate. Black guys running around as hoplites, no actual Bronze Age inspired armor, endless CGI that looks completely dated or unfun.

I thought that I had, is Nolan the one mainly responsible for Safe Edgy? The Dark Knight trilogy is the main example I can think of that looks very edgy but if you look deeper it never offends anyone.

unpopular take, the Dark Knight has not aged well.
I enjoyed the trilogy, but I kinda agree. Once we compare them with other Batman takes, it's really all over the place. Like, people criticise the Snyder movies for taking chances that are uncharacteristic of the heroes, yet Nolan showed us a Batman whose whole reason to exist was a woman. TDK specifically was all about Rachel and that was annoying. Compare that with how Burton managed the love dynamic between Batman and Catwoman.
