Fact is he's had his hands on crowdfunded garbage for years. Those red and yellow circles from 20 years ago was crowdfunded. Those black and red cards from 5 years ago were crowdfunded. His alleged criminal activity was crowdfunded. There's plenty more I'm omitting, point being that he was always going to make another crowdfunding project.
So, why comic books? His Youtube content leading up to it never covered comics. His time at Comic Con was spent covering video games, not comic books. None of his blogs or websites or social media showed an affinity towards comics. He went with comic books only immediately after he started beef with Nerdrotics because he was upset with their opinions on the Covid-19 vaccines:
It's only in the immediate wake of picking fights with Comicsgate creators in late 2021 that he'd start a comic book:
Well, that was a fucking lie. Nigger aside, it's only correlated as retaliation towards those creators around late 2021 and early 2022. He thought to himself "I need a new Kickstarter grift anyways, and these guys are making bank with comic books, how hard could it be?"
There he was, sitting there at 2am, ready to get started. Vito knows you gotta start with a big action scene to really get the audience's attention. Give people something they're familiar with, but cheese it up though so that when you pull the rug (literary trick only learnable while getting a community college degree) and reveal it was lampooning those all along comics, you get a real "shucks!" out of your readers.
That's when we get our first subversion of expectations. Instead of bringing you into the hero's world and life, you're brought into the female sidekick's world. She's not like MOST girls, though! Her geeky, masculine-coded interests convey a real rough and tumble "gal" (you just know he calls her a "gal" in his internal monologue). We can't be too woke though, so let's put every funny accent from GTA IV into a blender and make the only non-white character the most one-dimensional scumbag. Perfect, then let's immediately discard him forever. Double perfect.
People need a reason to care about Beck's struggles though, so we're gonna have a montage. She had ambitions and goals, but couldn't achieve them. Let's keep her sexy, but completely available for all the losers. Also, this is extremely boring, so let's dangle jingly keys in front of the reader with Simpsons references and cynical fanservice, yeah. You can really envision her as a real life woman, one you could really beat and then run from the police.
