Ok, SimCity 4 definitely has the worst modding community I have ever seen by far. I was going to sperg out in a huge post but it's not even worth it. How do you let an entire website with over 4000 mods hosted on it just go offline and only manage to save some few hundred? Why does everyone still act like reuploading is stealing? It's a mod, nigga, there's no copyright. Modding should be a community effort to heighten player experience and offer alternatives that appeal to individual tastes, not some individualistic wankfest where you hide everything behind restricted memberships and blogs you can't maintain.

Now, you can't find a huge chunk of worthwhile content made for the game despite the fact that it's easy to find mods made for games even older than SC4. This is really just pathetic. A shame that Skylines 1/2 couldn't just replace this game and its community entirely and put it out of its misery.

Did something happen recently? I have a ton of mods on my system if there is stuff you are looking for.

I know it is old fashioned, but I always liked how Simtropolis (or whoever) used to sell a CD with the best mods of the quarter/year. Pretty smart in hindsight... sort of.

Pretty sure they're talking about SC4Devotion, they left Simtropolis for some petty reason years ago, they picked fights with anyone that didn't conform to "their" shared IDs (like Pegasus, another big modder at the time). I remember having a bad fallout with them years and years ago, elitists and a dumb teenager don't mix well together.

No, nothing recently. I've only just learned about the fall of SC4Devotion (aka LEX) after years of not really thinking about the game. So if anything, I'm very late. However, it's definitely something I've noticed intermittently over the years, where the culture of the SC4 community has practically killed itself. SC4Evermore appears to be the backup for Lex and it has conglomerated many dependencies together, showing just how much easier it would have been if that were done in the first place. Why didn't they do that? The reason would have to be more autistic than my posts, that's for sure.

Anything Northern/Eastern European, but please don't strain yourself.

Blame nexus for that faggotry to amplify in 10000x.
but losing site due to retardation is somewhat common, i mean zenhax died because people weren't interested and it was one of the surface sites you can easily google about game decompiling shit.

Bridges and Ports will never release. There will be no bridges. There will be no ports. To the soil shall your minions cling, gazing upon the water they shall never tame.

So apparently Colossal Order has been working on this DLC for 5 months (stick a pin in that) and shared it with a test group, finding it needs more "polish". Therefore, they need 7 more months. That's a comically long time, longer than the development cycle they stated 2 paragraphs prior; I can only think they were going to be putting out a dlc comparable to the Beaches and Failures pack last year, until the test group gave them a wakeup call. Nothing short of rewriting the expansion should take until Q4, which we know means December. Going back to our pin, 5 months ago was only the start of 2025. So when they pushed the release from Q2 2024 to Q4, then Q1 2025, they knew those dates were bullshit; this is the equivalent of an office grunt repeating that a report will be ready tomorrow when they haven't even started it.

It's genuinely baffling how little they accomplish with this game, given we're 19 months post release without even a substantial DLC to call additional content. 19 months post release of CS1 saw 2 major expansions, with the third coming out a month later. Either the team is cut down more than they are letting on, or the original staff are all replaced with incompetent fools.

Any news should've been good news since we hadn't heard from them in close to 3 months and still, frustratingly, they fucked it up. But enjoy the patch in 2 weeks. Hopefully it's worth something

I've never been impressed with what passed for DLC under Cities Skylines. Not that they weren't conceptually interesting, you really could've done something with "Campus" and "Airports" but they weren't.

There's a new "city builder" called Town to City where you can build a Mediterranean town, but that voxel/LEGO-look is awful, I blame Minecraft. (Developer stream going on as of this writing). It promises "grid-free building" but it still runs into the Cities Skyline problem where that just creates weird wasted space between buildings.

They suffered from following the same formula of "make a new type of district overlay with cookie cutter assets". Industries, Campuses, Parklife, and Airports could be one DLC since it is the exact same structure, just with different assets. Mass Transit was nice but not exactly revolutionary, just new networks. After Dark and Snowfall were nice but simply getting the game to parody with Simcity. Beyond those the rest are paid asset packs, glorified paid asset packs, and a million fucking radio stations (seriously, who the fuck uses that?).

While none have blown me away, they've offered enough that I'm willing to shell out for the major ones (for 25% cost on Kinguin). The rest of my needs were met in the steam workshop.. won't labor that point further.

I don't know what the problem is with developers not being able to include non grid shaped assets. Surely adding a couple more shapes to asset footprints isn't impossible? Just to hug roads a little better and make more natural looking plots.

That new CS2 patch is also out today. Wouldn't know if it's fun or not as my game no longer loads, even to the main menu. I'll just wait a month for when mods work again. Gotta love the seamless PDX modding support they threw the game over

The problem is that universities and airports have a lot of potential in what you could do with them and how they could interact with the greater city around them but none of that is in there. So if you were hoping with Airports making huge runways (not S-shaped disasters), mega parking lots, a huge economic driver, the industries it supports, the businesses in and around them, and so forth you'll obviously be disappointed. With Campuses the traffic issue, the idea of young, educated, but lower-income people who will tend to leave your city, and so on, could've also been an interesting challenge. Industries is a bit of a distraction from the main concept but actually assigning values to freight traffic and the concept of making super-facilities could've been also interesting, but you won't be making massive petrochemical complexes or distribution facilities.

Cities Skylines could've fixed that by just redrawing the lots to fit (which would obviously do better in suburban environments than urban ones) but with buildings that line up directly up to the road it looks even worse unless you could generate buildings that will distort themselves to fill in the space.

I don't know what CO did
They "fixed" the homelessness problem!

Yea past few times playing I did notice I have hundreds of people moving out of the city constantly, even in relatively small (<40,000) cities. Networks are so utterly fucked the people will walk down train tracks and highways to leave zombie apocalypse style. It's not just citizens behaving in abnormal ways. CO has created such an unholy mess that God is getting involved.

They've found a load of new ways to break the game simulation that I never even encountered in the first.

I just keep Sim City 3000 Sim City 4 and Cities Skylines 1 installed. I never bought Skylines 2. From everything I have seen it has massive problems. I know a lot of people were hyped for it. But like with everything else in the last 3-4 years it turned out to be a massive disappointment.

Bro's movement is dying so hard in real life they have to play pretend and recreate groomer pride parades in the city building game this year. [Post Archive]

I still get a laugh from spectating redditors cus of little moments like that but regardless, he is completely right. None of these people actually push for equality, it's why they even made their own separate flag for their movement when the American flag already covers equality for every person, no matter their race, sex, or creed. And honestly that's for the better, since I would not want furfags or troons infesting that message.

And I salute the men and women who worked hard to keep real life free of your trash. God loves you.
