Civvie 11 - Retro FPS Boomer

Not to steer this into a Blood 2 spergout but was the source code for it every released? I'm kind of surprised there was never a concentrated effort to "fix" it considering how legendarily bad the game is and the dedication of the fan base. I'm also a bit surprised that with the revival of "boomer shooters" and success of Doom that no one has even hinted at bringing Blood back when they could probably (unfortuantely) copy nuDoom and it'd print a bit of money.
There are a couple mods that seek to address that actually on ModDB.
Blood 2: The Second Cut
Redux Cruo which sets out to fix more things on the graphical side
and Extra Crispy that's just another flavor of rebalance/retooling

I actually slogged through the piece of shit back in like October and thought Redux Cruo was also a rebalance, only used that, it was not, you need that plus one of the other two.

The closest thing to a revival is this https://store.steampowered.com/app/1684930/CULTIC/

It's because they are a generic 70s rock band that trudged like a zombie as long as 2010s. The most interesting thing about them is how they're arguably the biggest sold-outs in history, and that weird movie where everyone (except Gene) is obviously high off his ass.

They didn't even bother to license their music for their own movie.

OOF. QUAD DAMAGE.

John fuckin' Carmack just roasted the fuck out of that retard.

Now that he covered Jazz Jackrabbit, I am waiting to see his Dangerous Dave review.

It's one of the big differences between past and modern devs. Past devs were mathematicians and physicists that needed to use workarounds and fancy math to make games work fast. Modern devs are "artists" that shit out uninspired art in-between goon sessions, resulting in games that are tens of gigs (at minimum) and run like ass.

If past devs were like modern devs, they'd copyright every algorithm they made and bitch constantly on how they are victims when someone uses anything similar.

Interesting to see you reference Dangerous Dave because I was just playing this game Haunted Lands which is... an homage to it, to put it lightly. I really liked it and look forward to the full release. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2980900/Haunted_Lands/

Very nice, I'll definitely check it out.

Also, that boomer retard who got BTFO by Carmack has his own youtoob channel.

Considering his bad takes on IA, we can easily throw his channel into the trash.

Either I ate too much acid or Civvie already covered Dangerous Dave in some grabbag video?

I watched a couple of his videos and they're alright, they go into detail and cover the games about as thoroughly as Civvie does. Still, he is just as much of a neurotic retard with bad takes as Civvie, except unlike him he doesn't tend to keep his mouth shut and leave them as a bitter throwaway gag in one of his videos. Oh, and this dude has a bluesky account, in case you were wondering.

Aren't you thinking about Bio-Menace?
Nope, can't find it anyway.
Could be other youtuber, I know I saw a video where the joke was that Dangerous Dave gameplay was spliced in or something like that. Or maybe I should eat less acid.

New video on Quake 2 AI thing. Half of it is ERP with an AI chatbot.

Also new vids: "Doom 2 Master Levels video in progress and nearly done, so that should also be out this week. After that, probably Viscerafest and then that new Doom game is gonna be out."

I'd say the artistic part is fundamental when it comes to developing a game, since you're not developing an work-related software that it's bound to be purely utilitarian, but more that the perception of game development has shifted from "super niche thing that only (true) geeks care for" to "adventurous (purely) creative endeavor!" attracting a lot of the people who would otherwise chase their dream of making it big in movies or music biz. The difference may be subtle, but it's there.
