I don’t even want him to try this. I consider Civvie to be OK at the games he plays at best, and even people like decino spent inordinate amounts of hours on “that” level."Pro Swim with the Whales when, Civvie?"

I don't think he's into reviewing mods on the channel, he mentioned such in his Blood: Death Wish video, which is fine, after all ggmanlives if you want endless old game mod review content. A mod has to be really, really stand out and special for Civvie to cover it, like the pinnacle of what can be done with a jank ass engine, superior to the original source material, and preferably something for Blood since he loves the fuck out of that game.Honestly I want him to cover some of the more (in)famous Doom wads as well. Watching him suffer in Plutonia 2 or Hell Revealed 2 would be amazing.
The easiest one to install is Quake Ultimate Patcher. It's automatic and it comes with the soundtrack. It's good for a first time player because trying to run Quake mods and source ports is more of a hassle than with Doom. There aren't as many customization options for graphics and sound though, so I switched over to Mark V a while ago. It's a bit trickier to get everything running, but I prefer it because it's got more options (for example, I prefer Quake without model interpolation, and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off with the Ultimate Patcher). If you're planning on playing mods like Arcane Dimensions (which is amazing by the way), you'll need to use Quakespasm to get them running.Considering playing Quake for the 1st time once I get through Doom Eternal’s 2nd dlc and thought of Civvie’s aside about the various source ports. Which ones do you all here prefer?
Model interpolation is the thing he was talking about where the animations smooth out too much on the weapon models, right? The easiest one to install is Quake Ultimate Patcher. Yup. It's not just the weapons though, the enemies smooth out too. I don't care for it much because it makes the attack animations of some monsters, namely the knights, feel janky. They're a lot easier to read when their animation is choppy. Of course, that choppy animation isn't gonna work for everyone.Model interpolation is the thing he was talking about where the animations smooth out too much on the weapon models, right?
Just make sure you get the Trent Reznor soundtrack to work. It adds a whole dimension to the game.Considering playing Quake for the 1st time once I get through Doom Eternal’s 2nd dlc and thought of Civvie’s aside about the various source ports. Which ones do you all here prefer?
If you want a completely vanilla experience and don't care that much about not having the Trent Reznor soundtrack the vanilla Steam version is fine. The only issue I had with it was that you have to go into the console commands to enable mouselook, otherwise you have to hold down a button to freelook. For the full experience with the soundtrack and mods I prefer Quakespasm because it doesn't have the weird model interpolation issue that Darkplaces has.Considering playing Quake for the 1st time once I get through Doom Eternal’s 2nd dlc and thought of Civvie’s aside about the various source ports. Would love to see how he made it. The sprites were taken from the abandoned game but that was as far as they got in terms of development. I thought he was going to play the Wolfeinstein mod.We got a fun one today.
Whang just did a video covering this very game. It's worth a watch if you want more info on it.There we plenty of adult-orientated franchises that did get games on the NES, so it wouldn't have surprised me if this did actually exist.
I wondered if Whang inspired Civvie or it was something that came up online that they both independently made videos about.Whang just did a video covering this very game. It's worth a watch if you want more info on it.
Oh poor, poor Civvie...I've been waiting for him to do this one.
Ah yes the game made fer rednecks by rednecks. No wonder nobody talks about it anymoreI've been waiting for him to do this one.
If anything, Civvie is like what Brad/Cinema Snob is right now, decently amusing videos that are always good for a watch, especially with the similar approach to jokes/review structure where they go into the backstory behind a film/game's development as well as describing certain plot points in terms of how the effect was achieved rather than what's actually on screen.Civvie has some entertaining content and he really demonstrates things in a style that is informative. I'm glad he doesn't litter his videos with unnecessary cutaways and when he has one, it's a quick blip that doesn't mess up the pacing of the video. Kind of reminds me of why I enjoyed AVGN in the early days before the style ended up getting less informative and more performative. I like how he manages to walkthrough the game while also giving analysis of the mechanics on a design standpoint.
There has been a surge over the last couple of years of these really good channels that have this type of content I've noticed and Civvie definitely found the proper niche as a commentator/reviewer. This is how come I really like this generation of YouTube in regards of gaming commentary. Rather it being a derivative trying to be the biggest edgelord, just shitting on a game, with out much information. Or the video feeling like it's a fucking skit opposed to a review. Civvie found the balance and frequently look for his new content.
Civvie is like if what people's perception of Spoony was in my opinion. As long as he puts out content the way he does consistently I don't see myself not wanting to keep up with his content.
