It's kinda odd that there hasn't been any re-release of the 1st Alice on Origins/Steam/GoG, while you could get a copy of it with Madness Returns on the console apparently.

I heard Gman also has a habit of rushing reviews just to be first, and being flat out wrong about the game he covers because he didn't take the time to check.

My personal breaking point was when he rushed through Sigil just so he could review it first and it's clear that he was asshurt by how difficult it was on Ultra-Violence. Meanwhile, Civvie's review was a lot more fair in part because he swallowed his pride and played on a lower skill and found it much more tolerable. Not to mention, you could tell Civvie spent a lot more time playing it so he could better understand the WAD.

I stopped paying attention to Gman after that shameless DOOM Eternal shilling, where it seemed kinda obvious Bethesda was coaching him on what to say .

Gman at this point is just the same repetitive jokes over and over again, not to mention using the FaceApp smile on almost every single goddamn thumbnail.

Civvie also has an habit of repeating jokes, but somehow it doesn't come off near as obnoxious as when Gman does it.

At this point he should embrace his inner coomer and review only hentai games.

Surprisingly enough, I've enjoyed his reviews on dumb coomer/jank games more than proper releases that actually are trying to be "good" games, his recent review on that metro simulator game and that weird Together BnB korean game were refreshingly funny although I don't know if it's truly due to him and his writing quality or the games just being enjoyable to mock.

Civvie is still consistent in quality but some of the jokes don't land and are repetitive, like the cancer mouse thing, yes comments can be really pedantic sometimes and there's definitely a certain level of autism in them but simply making their arguments in a funny voice isn't really a refutation.

I'd like for Civvie to start cycling the off-topic jokes a bit more often. I know he's got that whole zany meta-narrative going on, but it wouldn't kill him to have more characters to bring in for a nonsense 10-second gag. Cancer mouse was mildly amusing starting out, but after so many videos it feels like it's there just because Civvie thinks it's part of the show.

I only know 2 YouTubers who do retro gaming stuff, and one is Civvie and other is guy from Accursed Farms. I used to like the latter but after dozens of videos of him ranting about "games as service" and bitching about fraudulent business model of such companies like EA I can't force myself to watch this dude anymore. He became repetitive whiner who don't talk about game but focuses on who is behind it and why is it bad. He also reminds me of Dunning-Kruger Effects were the lesser you know the more you are feeling entitled to emphasise your arguments. He is 30 years old but in mind he is 14-year-old ruckus that was shocked that he can't sue game companies for "games as a service". Rekieta was having fun talking about him some time ago.

On the other hand, is Civvie which I also liked when he started his thing, but he has no clue where to go with his content. I was mostly watching his reviews of bad Capstone games but once he started making reviews of good games, I have lost interest. Why to bother listen 40-minute review of old forgotten game when you can have laugh at obscure game that never hit the shelves and is bad to say the least.

Nigga if you're into retro gaming or oldschool RPGs/war games/hentai games you need to at the very least check out Sseth's stuff. I've been rewatching his videos after one of them autoplayed on me recently and I can't stop.

Just watched Civvie's Alice video and it was, fine I guess. This one didn't feel like his heart was into it at least like some other ones. The cynic in me wonders if there are some cheques or shekels being passed around to build up hype for the next game but that's just based on two videos from fairly large YouTubers recently so probably tinfoil. It's just nice seeing the game get some extra attention lately.

Going by American McGee twitter banner and activity (featured at the end of Civvie's video) I'm leaning towards either a sneaky marketing campaign for Alice: Asylum, or it being a complete Dennis the Menace situation.

He seems to keep his political opinions on Twitter thankfully outside of the ocassional jab. Im just worried this could leak to his videos sooner or later as it always does with these things.
