For some reason that's exactly how I picture Nice Girls TM.

So I remember about six years ago Hot Topic started selling corsets and a saleswoman told me that they were trying to bring back the adult clientele instead of just catering to scene tweens. Where are they in 2017, you ask? Why, selling Disney shit out the wazoo and encouraging man/womanchildren to never grow up! Nothing says "edgy" like My Little Pony dresses and Aristocats sneakers.

There's always Spencer's!

Did Hot Topic ever really cater to adult clientele? Defining 'adult' here as, say, people over 25.

I mean, they had some legit goth stuff back in the day. Know a fella who was seriously goth back when HT started up and was in there all the time but wouldn't even look twice in a hot topic today

Steady Clothing had Tess Munster model for their stock photos a few years ago. Their website, for whatever godforsaken reason, has no apparent superplus/normal filter, so Tess shows up looking like a terrible cartoon right next to their regular models. It completely spoiled whatever fantasy you had about their clothes.

I let out an audible sigh at this. When will fellow big girls learn that pencil skirts don't work when you're large? Spanks help, but it still looks not great. People won't not notice your stomach just because the material hugs your boobs. A-line skirts are the way to go, they can hide the shape of a stomach and hips without looking baggy like empire skirts or tight like pencil skirts. The print on that cat dress above is bad, but I think the skirt shape is alright.

I'd like to know how you're supposed to wipe while wearing one of these. (Most of their jewelry is beautiful, if a wee bit hippie, but you have some that's just WTF?)

I actually kinda like the dress, because I like vintage-y stuff like that. But yeah, it looks hideous on her. It's one thing to have plus-size models, (they're trying to appeal to their clients), but surely you can make the clothes actually LOOK presentable. When Tess Holliday looks better than you, that's just sad.

Hah! I came here to mention Pyramid Collection. Like you said, some of their stuff is pretty, but a lot of it is also pretty WTF. And for some reason, their habit of referring to plus sizes as "goddess sizes" makes me laugh.

So many of these quirky shops have horrible quality. So much cheap, scratchy lace.

My inner hippietrash really loves a lot of the stuff on that website...
However, as it turns out, I own one of the dresses....I found it at Goodwill. It's listed on the website for 79.99, and it's photographed to look like it'll be form fitting yet flowy. Well, let me tell you. It fits like a potato sack, it's a very unflattering length (right below knee), and in no circumstance is it worth 79.99. I thought it had been donated by some Indian grandmother or something since it smelled very strongly of curry, no joke. I paid $10 for it and honestly that seems a little high for me.

I took a quick gander at their stuff. Hippy dippy wiccan airhead vibes aside, the stuff is pretty, sure. But it also looks like the set up for one of those "What I ordered online vs. What I actually got" memes. No thanks.

I love seeing these "feminist" companies charging outrageous prices for shitty quality clothes that were probably made by women (who have actual inequality issues as women) in shitty factories in China and/or Bangladesh.

Mind you, these shitty jobs are (unfortunately) some of the best jobs that women can come across in many parts of the world, though it still doesn't negate the lulz points for me.

Have you ever noticed how being fat and wearing clothes automatically makes you "confident" or "fierce"? I honestly don't know how fat people don't find it condescending as fuck.

The definition of fierce became "when someone is fat and insecure about it" a long time ago.

LuLaRoe oh my god. “Modest! Fashionable! Blessed!” Some patterns are cute, but like 99% of them are butt ugly, the quality of the leggings is absolute garbage, I got a pair with pinholes in the thighs and the legs are different lengths with baggy ankles, and the company is a fucking trainwreck. The next big clothing company MLM will probably be Honey & Lace/Piphany or Agnes & Dora, which are owned by the LuLaRoe lady’s family.

"aesthetic" stores that all sell the same stuff at different prices, usually ranging from $15-$40, all of which you can find on Wish for $5.

i see ads for this shit on my facebook feed (ew i know) and it's all bad facebook memes/pandering. there's some stuff on here i like but i've seen it go for way cheaper on other sites. if the prices aren't bad enough, the shipping is crazy. i bought a shirt from here and only had to pay for the shipping, which was $25. it took 2 months to actually get to my house. my friend bought another shirt from here before and it cost $50 for price/shipping. they still haven't received it, even though they ordered it in july.

I really cannot fathom how the higher ups at HT didn't look at these clothes and not see how tacky they really look. I've seen Sailor Moon themed clothing sold on Etsy that are a 100xs more stylish and can be worn out in public without looking too tacky.

I miss the old days of Hot Topic when it catered to goffs and edgelords. Now it just caters to people in their 20s who never outgrew Disney

Unsurprisingly nearly all the Hot Topics near me either closed down years ago or are massively underperforming.

I hate how whenever I try to look up suitable skirts or dresses for my body type, I get images of hambeasts in ill fitting clothing trying to "eff ur beauty standards!!!"'

Like you might be okay with showing off your ham hocks and thunder thighs, but I on the other hand actually want to look decent.
