I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that people are somehow blaming this poor guy for making the thing in the first place. Yeah he's not the nicest guy in the world but how the fuck was he supposed to know the most powerful man on the planet would pick up on some fairly low quality content he probably knocked up in 20 minutes?

He doesn't deserve to be persecuted by a billion dollar news corporation for just producing some fairly inoffensive content that somebody of importance picked up on.

My issue here isn't so much the kid getting burnt. It's how CNN can't put their money where their mouth is. Either dox the kid for making fun of you or don't say anything at all. Instead they're doing this mafioso bullshit while pretending they're standing up for "what's right". Null already made the comparison but they're taking their leafs right out of Vordrak's playbook here.

They clearly don't care about incitement or anything, it's because someone mocked them.
They claim Johnny Depp calling for Trump to be assassinated "stupid, but protected speech" (which I do agree with) and put "threat" in quote marks, implying they don't think it was a real threat.

This goes back to what I said earlier about moderates. If one side of the political game adopts the mentality of winning by any means necessary, the other side has no option but to step up to the same game. The left has stopped trying to abide by the rules of democracy and now believes they are on a righteous crusade to dethrone a mad despot and elect a socialist saviour. This is why anything goes, like playing the victim when one of theirs gets doxed while simultaneously cheering on the doxing of a 15 year old who posted a pro-Trump meme. Lying is merely another tactic in times of war, and these people are acting like they're fighting a war. They are morally justified in doing anything that furthers their cause, which is far more important than democracy to them. The murder threats against the president (and things that can be taken as such like the severed head "art" picture) might be in bad taste or even illegal, but legality doesn't matter when there's a just reason to defy the law. This is their mindset.
