Bacardi 151 and Coke, with a splash of lime juice. Good for getting wasted quickly.

Seriously, though, I always tend to order a rye Manhattan whenever I go out to a bar.
You have a preferred rye? I picked up a bottle of Old Forrester because my usual stores didn’t have Rittenhouse. I wasn’t impressed. Luckily last week I found two bottles of the former, which should last me quite a while on that front.
Rittenhouse and Evan Williams bnb are fantastic mixing whiskeys that punch way above their price point, and the bnb comes in handles too.

What are the best not-full-fucking-bottles of prosecco for a budget? I’m quite fond of French 75s but a full bottle is going to go to waste unless there’s a party.

Anyone got some rum cocktails they like? Daiquiris seem to be a hit at my friends’ poker game. I also need to get some stemware.
Planter's Punch is a good one but you'll have to get some Allspice Dram and Jamaican rum.
-3oz. Rum (Coruba is cheap and good, Appleton Rare 12 if you got the cash)
-.25oz. Allspice Dram
-.75oz. 2:1 Simple Syrup
-1oz. Lime Juice
-3-4 dash Angostura
-Mint Garnish
Whip shake and retain crushed ice

Does your local wine/liquor shop not sell the mini bottles of prosecco that are only 187ml ?
just checked a search at WalMart sells a 187ml mini of La Marca for $4.98
so if you don't want to buy waste/drink a whole bottle, there's your option.

I’ve used Lamarca and thought it was ok. I’m just looking for other options because I know very little about sparkling wine. Target’s in-house brand seems ok as well.

My top 5 cocktails:
1. Pina Colada
2. Cosmo
3. Tequila sunrise
4. Mojito
5. Sex on the beach

:drink:

Honorary mention: Blue Lagoon, I remember 4 years ago I went to Kavos with my friends and I drank a ton of these and they literally dyed my insides green. For days every time I had a shit it would come out green.

You might want to try Cava. It's the Spanish version of sparkling wine. It tastes closer to actual champagne and is made using the same process. It can be had very inexpensively (sometimes under $10 for a bottle) since it isn't nearly as popular or well known as the other two. You could also look into French Cremant wines which are made using the traditional champagne method but not in the champagne region itself. I enjoy cremant d'alsace quite a bit.

The basic difference between the method used for prosecco (charmat) vs champagne, cava or cremant (traditional/champenoise) is that while both involve adding yeast and sugar to a still wine so that it re-ferments and adds bubbles, prosecco/charmat is done in bulk using huge industrial tanks while traditional method involves carrying out the process in each individual bottle

Russian Cocktail (from the New New York Bartender's Guide):

1.5 oz dark creme de cacao
1.5 oz white creme de cacao
2 oz vodka
1 oz gin

Shake with ice, pour into a martini glass and drink in one or two gulps.

My personal favorite is called Clouds Over Scotland.

In an Old Fashioned glass, put in 1-2 oz of green Creme de Menthe and then fill it up halfway with ice. Slowly pour in 2 oz Irish Cream. Serve.

It might be too simple and not everyone is a fan of mint, but I find it really refreshing.

Does anybody have any recommendations/recipes for a non-alcoholic Singapore Sling? My father used to call me gayer than a frisco bathhouse for having this as my favorite cocktail, and I'm trying to quit drinking cold-turkey. If there are any alcohol substitute chemicals that could work for flavor that would be great- especially if it has medicinal qualities.

I think Tanqueray makes a non-alcoholic gin now which’ll get you part of the way there if you can find it. Benedictine and Cherry Heering are harder. You’d have to ask people more gastronomically minded than me how to bullshit Benedictine specifically, but you could maybe, emphasis on maybe, get away with watering down the syrup from a jar of really good maraschino cherries for the latter. It’ll be sweeter than the normal sling but you can fiddle around with it to get the taste right.

Note to self when using Plymouth Gin in a martini, it’s lower proof so I shouldn’t stir it as long. Profile is nice but I need to keep that in mind cause I usually use something in the normal London Dry range of 47%. Anyone have a recommended london dry gin after Beefeater lowered their proof?

Ranch Water is an amazing cocktail. It isn't sugary and though it does take a few sips to acquire the taste, it is really an awesome hot day drink. Just tequila, sparkling mineral water, and lime juice. Great alternative to margaritas

Plymouth makes a navy strength too. Old Raj Blue Label has been good to me at 55%.

The painkiller is my absolute favorite rum cocktail. equal parts pineapple juice, OJ, coconut cream (or just use that blended pineapple coconut juice because it won't be chunky) and 2 shots of British navy rum, like Pussers (who have a patent on this cocktail and it technically isn't a Painkiller if you don't use Pussers. If you can't find Pussers use dark rum, but not spiced rum. Top with a generous sprinkling of nutmeg and serve over ice with a float of rum on top if you're feelin' saucy.
