Holy fuck, she's already that psychotic at that age. I didn't peruse this thread in that much detail but at first glance at her pic, she looked older. I'm so glad she's in jail now.

I think it's possible that someone reported the tumblr post and it was removed by staff, seeing as her similar posts on deviantart are still there.

Doesn't this sound like something a Columbine fangirl would do? She was in the same boat as the infamous shooters. In fact, according to a reddit user, she was a bully victim. She was bullied so horribly that she had to eat food in the bathroom.

Most child spree killers are psychologically ill and have parents who were either apathetic or in denial that their child needed help. There's a lot of conflicting information regarding the Columbine shooters and bullying in particular. Both were very depressed and violent, but there's a lot to suggest that Harris was a sociopath and that Klebold was codependent and just went along with what Harris wanted, but that neither were really bullied. Bullying may be a factor, but bullying was probably caused by the mental illness causing the child to act oddly. It's kind of a self feeding cycle, and it's a popular theme because it makes an easy bullet point on the nightly news. It's easier to think that kids can be violent because they've been bullied, not because of mental illness. /ends sperg

Just from skimming her tumblr, this and this would suggest she's more interested in serial killers than spree killers (Which school attackers are). There's probably more crazy I've yet to find, I'm only like five pages into this. She probably went with knives because she preferred them. Her poem was about cutting and stabbing, and I haven't come across any mention of guns yet. And unfortunately, knives are much more available to a 14 year old than a handgun. The kid needed help, and that her mother didn't call the police when her just-got-out-of-a-psych-ward daughter said she was going to stab people at school is depressing. It's fortunate that no one was killed.

I know situations like this aren't what that "it gets better" campaign are aimed towards, but it should be. Less "Aww poor snowflake all the meanies will learn their lesson and your life will improve," more "Kid, you're fucking 14, go to a psychiatrist and grow the fuck up a little." What she did is inexcusable, but she did it because she wasn't receiving the care and supervision she needed. A 14 year old in her mindset can't be expected to seek treatment herself, she needed to be intervened upon, which it sounded like someone was trying to do by her short stint in a psych ward. She needs to get properly diagnosed and treated for whatever she has in jail, not punished for what she did. That's only going to make things worse when she gets out (And she will get out.)

That's the problem. They WON'T give her help. She might stay in jail for 4 years, but then they'll release her and she'll be sent home. They won't treat her if they won't respect what she said. I have no doubt that she had something influencing her ability to distinguish fantasy from reality, I'm more referring to the fairly obviously self-diagnosed autism - and the tags on this post seem to be implying that "Breannee" thing might be some of that multiple personality/headmate nonsense?

Her parents or medical professionals definitely should have caught this, taken it more seriously and intervened sooner, but it definitely seems like the tumblr mindsets of self-diagnosing serious, lifelong and debilitating mental illnesses, plus the serial killer fangirl sections of the site, did not exactly help a hell of a lot.

Alright. In response to @Erica 's find that this girl was so interested in Serial Killers, I'm going to say that post they found about serial killers being people is quiet unnerving. It's basically disregarding who these men were and what they did. Especially Jeffery Dahmer.

Old Jeffery boy killed 17 boys and, in most cases, performed necrophilic acts and then ate them. He desired to dominate and kill his victims. That was his fetish. Yes, he did want them to stay with him. He felt if he ate them that is how they will stay together. He felt a dead body was his perfect submissive as they did not respond. He may resent his actions and after his first kill he did turn to religion, but he still committed the crimes. He was a monster and he knew that. The fact that this post calls him a person could of contributed to the fact that Colette thought that going through with the spree, because she thought that she will still be seen as human through tumblr's eyes.

Td;lr: Jeffery is a monster and the fact that the post fails to acknowledge that he considers himself a monster and his actions may of contributed to Colettes mentality towards killing.

Now, I'm not comparing Colette in anyway to be like Jeffery. Colette is a thankfully failed spree killer and Jeffery is a Serial killer. They are two different types of killers. Yet the fact that tumblr actually has a post like that going around is just unsettling. It's basically saying 'uwu no matter what they did they are still people' This could of mixed with Colette's already unhinged mind and created dangerous cocktail. Maybe it's different in Canada. But you're right, realistically I'm always stupidly hopeful when it comes to mental health and prisons, particularly when it pertains to a kid. She can be helped, but that isn't really what happens in the penal system.
