You can't forcibly medicate someone while they're in jail in the states either. Not unless they're posing a risk to themselves or others. You certainly can't force them to do it once they're out.

Actually, you can.

Criminal defendants found incompetent to stand trial are often forcibly medicated to render them capable to stand trial for their crimes, or even to be rendered competent to be put to death.

Somehow I can forsee someone who ran through their school stabbing people being declared a risk to others...

I had no idea. That they can medicate someone to sanity long enough to execute them is horrific.

New news article about the stabbings, alluding to her tumblr account and a possible Facebook profile.

There's also a bunch of comments on her deviantART profile. The weird thing is, some people are actually defending her. This poster offers some insight on her situation, and the fact that apparently mental health care is pretty good in the area where she lives.

In the case of a violent, suicidal child, it isn't the childs responsibility to seek out help. It's the responsibility of the adults who supervise the child to do that for them, and if they're not willing to accept the treatment, force them into it. Kids wearing pink shirts to stop bullying and manning a call center doesn't mean anything when a child with severe psychological problems is saying they're going to do a harmful act, and the responsible adult chooses not to call the police or inform the childs doctor. This isn't a 30 year old woman, this is a 14 year old child.

Fair point. From the sounds of it, her mom did put her in treatment, so something was done. It just wasn't enough.

I read about this earlier today. What she did is unforgivable and stupid, but I can't help but feel some pity for her. Like people have already said, this whole event could have been avoided if her parents had sought professional help. It's the combination of shitty parenting and letting a 14 year old autist have a tumblr account: a website where being mentally ill is idealized and trendy. I've never fully agreed with supervising a teenager's internet activity ALL the time, but if your kid has autism for fuck's sake, at least have an idea of what they're posting online.

So, not saying any names, but I’m stuck living with a very annoying type of person. I’m sure everyone knows the kind: snooty, thinks they know everything, a spoocial snowflake. Worse, this person is considered above me. That means everybody thinks her word is gold and when I call out bullshit on it I’m written off as “angry autistic teenager”. A few minutes ago she decided it would be a good idea to open her big mouth and pretty much criticize my eating habits.

I do not give a damn what you think about me.

I will eat what I want, I will dress in any style I do damn please, I can’t and won’t put my autism aside just because you don’t like it, fuck off. This arrogant idiot also believes she knows EVERYTHING about autism because she worked with a few kids with it. When you meet 1 autistic person you’ve met1 autistic person. Those kids are not me. Their condition is not the same as mine. They mean nothing when it comes to me. Do not compare me to them. Or ANY other kid for that matter. I hear so much complaining about my temper. It doesn’t matter if “the kids at school don’t behave that way!”
Well, sorry for having a lack of self control! It’s not something I can control! When I get aggravated and angered I actually forget that people are alive. That’s why I resort to violence so much; not because I want to hurt them, but because I completely forget they’re alive. To me they appear a simple, inanimate object causing distress that needs to be destroyed. Seriously, do not complain about things you know nothing about.

If I have to hear her say another dumbass statement that will probably start with a “jumping jeepers!” or whatever the fuck she says I will lose my mind.
