Been playan some Black Sea and watchan my preferred boomer tactics E-Celebs, Hapless

Here's a screenshot from Shock Force. Not related, it's just kinda cool.

Discuss what virtual tactics you've been up to.

Honestly Combat Mission is dogshit. Personally I hate the devs because selling updates is scummy, but outside of that, the game really breaks down when you get within about 50 meters of the enemy. In Black Sea this isn't as noticable because it's a conventional near peer conflict, but the urban infantry combat in Shock Force is just absolutely unplayably bad.

I wish PlayStation had more stuff like it. We do have insurgency, which is pretty good but otherwise ehhh. Im told helldiver's is good

Damn, lotsa good times in Arma. Made a shit ton of missions back in III, favorites were:

- nighttime SEAL team raid on an oil refinery, spent 20 hours making it and we played it once
- a PvP mission where one team were terrorists, and had to shoot up the airport, steal a plane, and crash it into a building
- Vietnam waterways mission with grenade launcher boats and plenty of noncombatant collateral
- WWII Panzer battalion having it's last stand against an onslaught of Allied troops
- A huge joint op in Vietnam, we had about 50 people from different groups working together in a massive push through the jungle

Did a bit of digging and I've even got an edit of the bigass joint op, compression kinda fucks it up but whatever, it was a good time.

I always wanted to try Squad after Arma, but I've been told that the optimization in that game was arse.

It has the eternal problem of all squad-based shooter games in which servers are all headed by militant spergs with a stick up their ass and that if you set up your own server with blackjack and hookers you still have to kowtow to whatever dogshit server rules the game publisher forces upon you because you don't own it.
Hell-let-loose also withered this way.
Optimization wise however it should preform better than ARMA 3 because A3 is just shit overall in that regard.

I've yet to encounter any Sim RTS that can accurately depict urban AND rural warfare. Though I disagree with the idea that CM is dogshit, I do concur with the devs being retarded. More concerned with Defense Bux than the fans that kept them fed for years.

Wish I could ask some of you to play Arma 3 antistasi with me without being DOXED AND TROLLED by the evil kiwi farms. All the community AS servers feel impersonal.
there is something satisfying about shooting down hordes of helicopters with a large caliber ballistic AA gun and killing small patrols and stripping them down to their underwear and running away

funnest times of antistasi is just stealing all the enemies armor and gear while running around with a shithouse rifle/shotgun

Just port this shit to PS5 please. That's all I ask

Yuge news for the boomer milsim fans, my dear, dead thread.
Combat Mission has been bought outright by Slitherine, and they're engine swapping to Unity.
WE WON SIMBROS
From my personal experience slitherine games have been ok

Is this good or bad

Good, Battlefront is a gaggle of lazy boomers with a single coder, IE only one guy actually works.
Slitherine actually has capital to make more than 1 game every 6 years. They've got several notable titles in the works already, notably Armored Brigade 2 and Broken Arrow.

Been playing Arma reforger despite the ongoing ddos. I'm an Xbox player, used to be PC but life changes. It works pretty well on a controller they really did an amazing job. It does support full KBM as well. Also has mod support on console and cross platform. I cannot wait to download the Halo mods and join a server for that. Previously played a lot of hell let loose.

I do miss Squad. I know it's a pipe dream of it getting a console release but if Arma works it also would. I always did enjoy project reality a bit more than squad. Something very nice about it's simplicity. I never had trouble seeing enemies.

Also Syrian warfare is a hilarious men of war type game on steam. It's insanely pro Russian. it's such a blast to play either way you feel about that. The destruction of the environment is peak.

Been getting back into Squad and it's been a blast. Though maybe getting lucky with good SLs has been part of that.

Gonna try to practice squad leading at some point. I know the basics, though my problem has always been coordinating the squad.
